Dear family and friends,

It is with heavy broken hearts that we have to inform you that our beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend Claudia Herlinda Alcivar Lopez passed away suddenly at the young age of 48 on the evening of Monday, July 8th, 2019. She passed in the presence of her close family and friends at Fairfax Hospital, Virginia. Claudia was blindsided with an unexpected and sudden illness. Unknown to Claudia, her illness had progressed to the point of organ failure. In spite of all medical interventions within these past two weeks, she was taken from us and called home.

Claudia’s sudden passing has come with tremendous heartache to us all, especially, for daughter's Libny Alcivar, Sapphire Alcivar, and granddaughter Ava Alcivar.  Claudia was full of life and was actively in the process of relocating to Florida to be closer to her mother,  Amanda Yela. Excited for this new chapter in life; Claudia left behind a packed car for her anticipated Florida move which was to take place this past Friday, July, 5th, 2019. As you can see, it was a very unexpected loss. Planning her relocation, Claudia resigned from her job with Alexandria City's Department of Parks and Recreation after 15 years of service. Claudia's resignation, understandably, came with the loss of her health insurance. Being uninsured has only added to her daughter's heartache and an additional burden of not only having to pay for their mother's funeral but also the medical bills from her final days of hospitalization. As expected Libny, a paralegal at a local firm, and Sapphire, a proud member of our U.S. Army, could have never foreseen their mother’s life cut short. Let alone expect the financial hardship that comes with it.

I am Libny’s brother in law, Lorenz. I was privileged to have the opportunity to have known Claudia. She was fun, loving, caring, and loved to surround herself with family and close friends. Claudia loved to celebrate life. Her desire to bring joy and laughter to all in her circle, led her to celebrate everyone’s accomplishments and milestones no matter how big or small, young or old. During the last five years, her introduction to us came seamlessly. During the past years, we were privileged to have shared thanksgivings, Christmas, and New Years as one unified family. She leaves us all with a tremendous void! Her smile could brighten your day, and it will be forever engraved in our hearts. The pain she leaves behind is immeasurable in her daughter’s, granddaughter’s and friend’s sorrow and pain. With the assistance of family and friends, we hope to ease the financial strain, which is already at a staggering $20,000. The campaign will be administered by her eldest daughter Libny Alvarez, with the assistance of her youngest daughter Sapphire Alcivar.

As Libny and Sapphire mourn their mother, Claudia, they are tasked to plan for her final arrangements. We want to ask family and friends to please help with donations to go towards funeral services , medical expenses incurred, and ultimately to a donation charity. I cannot begin to imagine her daughter’s pain. Please find it in your hearts to donate any amount you can to allow her grieving daughters, Libny and Sapphire, to say their farewells uncomplicated by a financial burden. Libny, Sapphire and the family express in advance their most heartfelt appreciation for all donations! Help us show Claudia she was, and always will be, loved, cherished and remembered. Claudia adored her girls and would not want them to endure pain in her absence. From my heart to all a sincere thank you.
