5th Grade Dream of Meeting Author

I am a 5th grade reading teacher in a small community school in Jacksonville, Alabama.  A reading frenzy has occured this year with my students. A buzz can be heard among a group of students once they discover each other is reading one particular author, Mary Downing Hahn! My students love her details. They say they can actual 'see' the characters and surroundings while they are reading.  WOW!

My students know that authors come and speak to schools. They asked me to see if Ms. Hahn could visit our school.  I contacted Ms. Hahn in the fall. She was quite busy traveling, writing, and filming a movie for one of her books. She wasn't able to respond quickly, but she did respond. Imagine my students excitement?!  Ms. Hahn can visit during the months of April and May of this school year. 

Now to get her here.  Ms. Hahn will be traveling from Maryland to Sweet Home Alabama. On top of the honorarium, we need to cover her flights,  hotel room, and meals.  

Any assistance to help my students get up close and personal with their favorite author would be amazing!
