Help Clare's Battle With Anorexia

Donation protected
Our granddaughter Clare is a loving, sweet, bubbly and out going twelve year old. She loves gymnastics,cheer-leading, drawing and singing. In the past few months,Clare quit the most important love of her life which was competitive gymnastics.Clare started developing attitudes and behaviors toward food. We told Clare that you have to have food to fuel your body, just like a car has to have fuel.In last few months Clare started experiencing weight loss.Clare's mood started changing, and her schedule. For example, she would get up around 4:30 am on school days and fix her breakfast in small amounts. She would talk about her next meal as soon as she finished breakfast and always saying she was hungry.
By this time Clare had already stopped eating any sweets, any snacks between meals, drinking only water and counting every calorie that she consumed. Food had become an obsession.

Clare was becoming weak, dizzy, having headaches, legs and stomach hurting. It was a fight and a struggle to get her to eat and she was getting sicker by the day. Her parents took her to Levine's  Children's Hospital and they admitted her immediately. Her heart rate had dropped very low and if we had waited any longer she could have died. There she was diagnosed with a eating disorder called Anorexia.

She was in the hospital for three weeks and they made her eat lots of high calorie foods. A nurse sat with her while she ate and only gave her 30 minutes to finish. If she didn't eat in the hospital, they would have tube fed her.We thank God that she was one that did eat in the hospital.

They were trying to get  her body physically healthy again before any additional treatment.

Now the parents were told they need to  get her in a treatment facility to complete the process of getting her well. Clare did come home from the hospital and had to be admitted again. She had to stay another week.

Most of the facility treatment centers are hundreds of miles away.We are currently working on getting Clare the medical help she needs, but with all the paperwork it is a long process.

Please help  Clare Bear, which is her nickname, to get the proper treatment she needs and bring our sweet' loving and active  daughter and granddaughter back to us.

Any amount will help. If you are unable to donate, we understand, but please consider sharing this campaign page.

                                                  Thank you,
