We are Christian Life Academy Robotics, and this year our company is "F.I.L.O. Rescue Brigade." We are a part of BEST Robotics, a robotics competition that requires you to not only build a robot, but a company corresponding with the robot and game theme.
This year's game theme is "Crossfire", based around firefighting and fire rescue. Our robot has to perform various tasks correlating to the game theme, such as rescuing an unconscious human (PVC mannequin), extinguising fire (solo cups stacked) and removing toxic waste (paint cans filled with golf balls) in under 3 minutes. We have to build a working robot and a functioning company in 6 weeks.
We're a group of students in grades 7-12, who have engineered, built, programmed, marketed, fundraised, and prayed for 6 weeks, and with the help of God have gotten where we are today. On Saturday, October 14, we competed in our local hub against 23 teams and placed 4th overall and qualified for regionals in Fargo, North Dakota.
BEST Robotics is free for schools to compete, but they do not provide any transportation or accommodations for schools who go to Fargo, so it's expensive for a school in Pennsylvania to take a group of kids across country. The Fargo competition starts in 6 weeks, November 29th-December 1st, and we need to raise $20,000 before then. It would be greatly appreciated if you would help our cause by donating even a small amount, everything helps.
