CK Team Refugees 2018
Donation protected
Ck Team Refugees was formed in November 2015 and in the two years to date we have been supported by over 1000 donors giving £35,000 to our causes. On top of that, as a trusted partner of MSF we have benefitted from additional support for life-saving and life- enhancing projects and with over 100 humanitarian volunteers and activists working with us, We cut through bureaucracy and do things which registered NGOs cannot do but would like to do. We believe actions speak louder than words .
For an in-depth look at our work you can view our previous campaigns https://www.gofundme.com/lesvosrefugeehelp

We are now entering a new era during which we will undertake week-long missions every month and as a result have decided to start a new campaign so donations for each month's project are easily Identifiable . This new campaign starts with a £450 credit which was raised in the past week (17- 25 November) and will be spent in January.
Ck Team work;
After the tragic death of Aylan Kurdi - and viewing the harrowing photos - we realised that governments cannot be trusted to help refugees.
We set up a search and rescue team over 16 sites on Lesvos. We paid local villagers to assist us, breaking a mafia stronghold on transportation.
With an ambulance exported from the UK and the support of MSF we supplied immediate medical aid to refugees suffering from acute hypothermia and major illnesses who crossed the Aegean Sea.
We camped out at numerous sites in case refugees arrived by sea - with a roving doctor always amongst our team.
We built a transit camp for 100 refugees at a time and had 4 vehicles of of our own plus the villagers 4x4s to transport women and children 15kms plus to an MSF camp. Many were suffering with hypothermia so we invested in heaters and blankets.
We went onto to run camps on mainland Greece, provide a doctors surgery, a dentist, hospital transport in our own aid truck and live- in advice and legal support. We set up the first 2 schools in refugee camps in Greece and sent teachers to partner Save The Children on Lesvos.
Matt Llewellin, who founded the Ck Team, worked out of Izmir for months and reported factories producing fake life jackets and provided over 1200 top quality life jackets for children, buying up fakes in exchange. In 2016, three children survived a 10 minute drift after a capsize thanks to their life jacket which righted there bodies so they could be saved in time.
What next?
Your donations to this campaign will contribute exclusively to our January mission. We have added £450 from donations earlier in November 2017 which haven't been spent yet.
On 10 November 3 childrens bodieswere washed up on the beaches we used to patrol. They had fake lifejackets. We are heartbroken. We did as much as we could but it wasn't enough.
Not one single unaccompanied child has been given refuge in the UK since they were promised it 16 months ago. They stay in camps which we can access and provide relief too. With our contacts and expertise we will exert pressure and provide immediate relief.
We will be refocusing our effort upon direct help to those in need and to our lifejacket project in Izmir which has proved to save lives.
Please support us. thank you!
