Citizen CATE Solar Eclipse Phase 2

Donation protected

I am an Acton Boxborough student who will be participating in the CITIZEN CATE (Continental American Telescopic Eclipse Experiment), a solar eclipse observation experiment that will take place in August, 2017.   http://eo.nso.edu/citizencate
Normally when you view a solar eclipse you will get a 2 minute video at most, but with CITIZEN CATE they will geographically spread 70+ observers from Oregan to South Carolina to combine observations.  I will be going to South Carolina to observe the ecplise.  When the National Solar Observatory (NSO) combines these observations together, using MathWorks MATLAB software, we will get a 90 minute long video.  This could help unlock deep mysteries about the Sun's corona, the aura of plasma that surrounds the sun!
I am a CATE phase 2 observer, which means I have to pay for my own equipment and travel by August 1st, 2017.
I am raising $3,645 to cover the standardized Citizen CATE equipment package. I will be paying for travel and lodging for this eclipse trip to South Carolina myself.  I will also travel to Illinois in April to train on the  equipment usage with other CATE observers.
Following the eclipse, this equipment will then be donated to Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston (ATMOB), to use for additional STEM education and community solar observations. I have organized a team of a half dozen Acton-Boxborough students interested in astronomy and STEM topics, who are eager to particpate in local New England science events.

CITIZEN CATE EXPERIMENT Equipment list includes:
-Daystar 80mm ED80 APO telescope OTA
-Celestron CG4 equatorial mount and tripod
-Celestron CG4 motor drives
-80mm image quality white light solar filter
-Pt Grey Camera Grasshopper3 monochrome 5 megapixel camera with SONY Pregius IMX250 2/3" chip
-Modified: GPIO cable
-Modified: Arduino UNO, Ardruino box, USB and ethernet cables
-Modified: GPS shield board
-Modified: Dual core, SSD, USB3 Laptop
-MathWorks MATLAB home version processing software
This is the first eclipse to cut across most of the USA, enabling us to create this extended solar dynamics study. The next total eclipse in the continental USA won't occur until 2024! Your generous donations will fund my particpation in this unique, once in a lifetime scientific experiment!
