Emilie's Residency Fund
$1,400 of $2,500 goal
Funds needed to attend a residency in Pennsylvania during the month of September. I'll be living and writing at Soaring Gardens, sharing space with a talented visual artist while we both create our art. My project is the first draft of a memoir about learning to tango and how the experience has impacted my relationships. Any amount you can contribute will be appreciated and every donor will be thanked in the acknowledgements when the book is published.
The published essay "Tango Face" is available here:

Also on the blog are 3 updates from Soaring Gardens, with tons of pictures and details about my time there. I'll be posting updates soon about the journey home. The newest Quarterly Reading Report was posted today and last Friday I added a wonderful Re-Reading Project guest post. So, there's lots of great stuff on the blog, even if I do say so myself.
And now for some wrapping up housekeeping. Near the end of the month, I'll be posting a massive Bragging On post *just* for folks who helped me get to Soaring Gardens. This is my opportunity to brag on each of you, what you're doing and accomplishing, so please send me details about anything you're particularly proud of (and if there's anything you don't want me to mention publicly, let me know that too). You can send it to: my name at yahoo dot com.
I've turned off donations here, but I'll leave the page up, at least for the rest of the year.
And, once more, THANK YOU so much for making this journey possible. I hope you enjoy reading all about it and seeing all the photos.
First, here's a photo of our first meal, as well as a little of the gardens and land in the background, and another from my walk this morning. You can see how lovely and wonderful it is here.
Second, as we were unpacking, I received word that a short essay I wrote was accepted for an anthology. More details as I know them and I'll definitely let you know when the book is available. So, barely here an hour and great news! This place is really magical.
Thank you to each and every one of you for helping me get here!
When you get a moment, please send me your address (if you haven't already) or preferred social media (FB? Twitter? Instagram) contact info. I will use this *only* to send you a physical or digital token of my appreciation (your preference).
I'd also love for you to share with me something that you've achieved recently or are particularly proud of. With your permission, I will then share this information in a special Contributors Bragging On post on my blog. Here's my last bragging on post for an example: http://emiliestaat.wordpress.com/2014/04/16/everybody-brag-now/
I'm so overdue for a brag - the people in my life keep achieving such extraordinary things. As for me, I am particularly proud that the people who helped make this dream a reality are such awesome, creative, amazing people.
