Help Chuckles Lifesaving Surgery
Donation protected
Chuckles, a healthy TNRed male colony cat (1.5 years old), was found a month ago with a prolapsed rectum.
He was rushed to Faithful Friends Animal Hospital in Brooklyn on October 30th and received a purse string suture. At that time he tested positive for coccida and hook worm parasites.
Chuckles was rushed back to Faithful Friends four days later to remove the purse string because there was not enough space for him to go potty, AKA, number two!
Chuckles continued with his deworming meds and his rectum continued to prolapse after every bowel movement.
On November 11th, he received another purse string suture and fecal test at Grady's Animal Hospital in Long Island. At that time, the second fecal test proved negative for hookworms and coccida.
Chuckles prolapsed again after the second purse string suture. Dr. Lexi at Grady's Animal Hospital thinks that a surgery called a coloplexy (https://wagwalking.com/cat/treatment/colopexy)
is the best option for him since he is young and healthy and rectal tissue is still healthy and viable. We are raising money for the surgery.
Unfortunately, the next step is euthanisia if we cannot raise the funds for the surgery. Grady's is offering the direct colony caregiver, Katherine Olenjack, a discount for feral colony cats for the surgery. All proceeds will go to Katherine and Chuckles.
