CHS Varsity Lancer Dancers

The CHS Varsity Lancer Dancer team has been a highly visible symbol of excellence in our community for many years.  The Lancer Dancers are an elite group of 16 highly trained dancers that represent Carlsbad High School. The Lancer Dancer team consists of girls ages 14-18, freshman through seniors. 

The Lancer Dancers are known and respected well beyond our idyllic coastal community.  Each year the Lancer Dancer squad brings national attention to Carlsbad by competing — and excelling — in the Universal Dance Association’s (UDA) National Dance Competition in Orlando, Florida. The UDA event is the nation’s premier competition for high-school varsity squads, with several hundred top schools competing from all over the country.

By finishing in the top five nationally, the CHS Lancer Dancers receive national television exposure on ESPN, reaching up to 90 million viewers and serving as teen ambassadors for the City of Carlsbad! The Lancer Dancers hold 11 number one UDA National Titles in Jazz and Hip Hop and most recently were awarded second place in Hip Hop and third place in Jazz in February 2018 . The team also holds the 2018 World Champion title in Hip Hop from the World School Cheer Dance Competition!!  

The Lancer Dancer team performs at a number of CHS sporting events, and many other functions throughout the Carlsbad Community.  The Lancer Dancers have performed at Petco Park (Home of the San Diego Padres), Art Splash, LEGOLAND, Carlsbad Village Christmas Tree Lighting, Mitchell Thorpe Walk-a-thon, Lagoon Benefit Walk, Alzheimer's Walk, Alga Norte Community Park grand opening and various elementary carnivals, events and more! The team also hosts an annual holiday dance Showcase in December and they teach Junior Lancer Dancer kids classes in the fall and camps over the summer.
