Introduction

My wonderful wife and I were married in November 2004. We had a happy fun life we enjoyed traveling and having fun together. After a long battle with infertility and a number of miscarriages. She finally went to Cornell University where she was diagnosed with a blood clotting problem and PCOS she finally delivered a beautiful son and twin boys from the miracle of IVF. Her boys are the absolute joy of her life and give her so much happiness. I believe this is why she keeps fighting to become well again.

Christy has been suffering from a host of chronic pain and autoimmune issues since the birth of our twin boys in 2011. She underwent a corrective surgery that almost killed her with a particularly aggressive MRSA infection. She was on 24/7 Vancomycin for two weeks and then Zyvox - a very expensive and strong oral antibiotic for nine months. The wounds were worse than gun shots and had to be packed everyday and took over a year to fully heal. Not only was she left with terrible scars, anxiety and PTSD, but more importantly Christy’s immune system was completely broken. Slowly chronic pain, gastrointestinal and hypothyroidism began to manifest themselves and progressively got worse every year.

The disease progresses

Between 2011- 2014 we were seeing a physician so often to get steroid injections and antibiotics for chronic sinus infections and pain, that the doctor decided we should go to the Mayo clinic to see if they could get to the bottom of it. We stayed for two weeks on two separate occasions and then back and forth for special testing. The visits lasted 3 months. After getting passed around the different specialists, the only conclusion they could come up with was that her GI tract was slowing down, the chronic pain was  Fibromyalgia and her autoimmune markers were off the charts but leaving the actual disease causing this, undiagnosed. So we were back where we started.

GI Surgery

Eventually in 2015 suffering from severe abdominal pain Christy fainted and I rushed her to the hospital, where she stayed for two weeks with a perforated colon and was diagnosed with Diverticlulitis. This gradually got worse and the antibiotics as Flagyl and other became stronger and more regular. After several more hospital stays the doctors decided that the infection had become so bad, that the only option was a complete colectomy! After a long fight with the medical system she managed to undergo the operation in April 2017 at UAB in Birmingham AL, the operation was an initial success, there were no complications and we were hopeful that this would be an end to her problems, despite chronic diarrhoea (over ten times a day/night) and of course abdominal pain from the surgery.

Post surgery troubles

As the weeks wore on, her lymph nodes began to swell and she started to gain an excessive amount of water weight despite being put on strong diuretics. Her thyroid levels dropped to virtually zero and was bed ridden with Strep and Mononucleosis infections for months. This basically morphed into chronic fatigue and every day was a constant fight to be a working mum and wife. We are currently seeing a number of doctors every week, doing tests and getting no answers from the current health care system. They have found levels high levels of calcium and PTH and still high ANAs in the blood but still no diagnosois.

To see what was once a amazing vibrant, strong-willed and outgoing woman undergo such pain and suffering everyday breaks my heart. She tries to fight a good fight but is in dire need of some intervention, as her health spirals out of control she takes phone calls all day from doctors offices trying to get an answer. I am taking emails and calls myself as it has become overwhelming to her.

We all need to have the old Christy back, our boys deserve to have a mother like the woman I married. That Christy that was full of strength, so funny, people loved her, she worked as hard as anyone I’ve ever met she was the kind of woman that just kept trying; if things failed she simply didn’t take no for an answer. She was strong and eventually got to where she wanted to be. The fact she has this in her personality gives me hope and that it’s always been a part of her in the worst situations.

She wants to take the boys to the playground, help them with their school, visit them and volunteer and take them for the odd treat of ice-cream without being worn out and in such chronic pain. I think this really depresses her that she is unable to share the lovely woman she use to be with them. Weekends are spent on the couch watching movies and even though it’s not much, it’s her most favourite time of the week spending time with her three boys.

A Possible Solution?

Through a lot of research we realise that we are getting no where fast and that the health care system has failed Christy since 2011 a long 7 years we have been patient. We have eventually realised we needed a new way of thinking! After speaking to fellow Autoimmune patients, Christy has found a treatment that us and her family believe can help her get better.

The treatment will take place at the Infusio Center for New Medicine in Frankfurt, Germany. Instead of being treated in an often-impersonal and stress-filled hospital environment, Christy will be treated in a healing, spa-like environment for 2 straight weeks, receiving the Infusio 5-Step Integrative Approach to Healing. The treatment consists of Thymus Therapy to rebuild/boost her immune system, Immune Modulation to rebalance the ratio of cells in her immune system, IV’s with fresh supplies of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, Detoxification, and additional treatments specific to Christy’s needs.

Perhaps the most powerful aspect will be the Stem Cell Therapy (not available in the U.S.), which will involve drawing Christy’s blood, harvesting stem cells, replicating the highest quality cells, and reintroducing them to Christy’s body 8 days later.  These cells will revitalize her immune system and become the building blocks for healthy organs.  Infusio has an excellent track record of treating Autoimmune Disease, and many testimonials. Christy has been corresponding directly with another Autoimmune patient who has experienced very positive results through the Infusio treatment and is on her way to resuming a normal life again.

Your Help would be appreciated

Christy has been a source of hope to all of our family and friends during these years of pain and suffering as she has such a positive attitude and compassion to others. She’s carried on selling paintings, her passion, to provide for our family even though she can barely stand.

Due to the unknown surrounding nature of her Autoimmune Disease and the lack of a clear treatment program in the United States, it has been difficult to identify a definite way to help her. We’re still paying out for doctor visits, specialists, antibiotics, IV’s, and even still getting bills for the Colon surgery from over a year ago, but Christy has been reluctant to accept any financial help from others.

However this campaign provides the opportunity to help Christy accomplish a definite goal: Fly to Germany and receive the Infusio treatment from Dr. Phil Battiade as soon as possible.  The cost of her treatment is estimated at $25K. With additional costs for airfare, accommodations, food, and after-care, our goal is to raise $35K+ for Christy to cover all expenses.

Christy believes the Infusio treatment will help her find relief from the debilitating symptoms that she has experienced for so many years, and aid on the path toward full recovery.  Contributions to this campaign will not only help Christy, but, by empowering her to get better it will enable her to serve as an inspirational person for undiagnosed Autoimmune Disease.

Summary

Please donate what you feel in your heart to this GoFundMe campaign and help us send Christy to Germany for treatment as soon as possible!  Comment on this page, share it on Facebook, Tweet it, and email it to your friends and family.  As an added incentive I will throw in a commissioned painting if anyone sends in a donation of over $3000.

Every contribution, no matter how large or small, is meaningful and deeply appreciated in our hearts.

Cheers, Jon, William, Charles and James
