Colorectal Cancer Treatment for Christy

My sister, Christy Duran, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer last Wednesday,  the day before Thanksgiving.   Even as I type those words, it just doesn’t seem possible.  I mean, my sister is only 47 years old.  She is raising three daughters as a single Mom and working full time for a company that captions television shows for hearing impaired viewers.  How does she get colon cancer?   We have no family history and she was too young to be screened.   What started out as a pain in her abdomen, that she thought was just a muscle strain, has turned into an immediate future of 16 grueling weeks of chemo, 5 weeks of daily radiation and then major surgery next year to remove the cancerous mass.  She will begin chemotherapy treatments at the University of Colorado Cancer Center next week.  Christy has a high-deductible insurance plan, but she's lucky in that many people don't have health insurance at all.  Unfortunately, her job pays just enough to cover her modest living expenses and doesn’t leave much at the end of the month.  And cancer treatment is expensive.  She is already working to cover the cost of two CT scans and an MRI needed to just diagnose her cancer.  Christy works overtime every weekend to make ends meet, but worrying about how to come up with the extra money that the life saving treatment will require is keeping her and her daughters awake at night.  With this GoFundMe,  we are hoping to raise enough money to cover the cost of her co-pays and deductibles so that she can just focus on being cured.  Please donate anything you can and keep Christy, an amazing mother, sister, daughter and friend in your thoughts and prayers as she fights this awful disease.
