Help Ecuadorian Children have a Happy Christmas

Ecuadorian markets work and income for many families, who would otherwise face total poverty, are also home to many children who have to work 12 hours per day to help their family earn subsitence wages. Children as young as three help with bagging produce and cleaning the stall. Five and six year old children are also often responsible for taking care of their one and two year old siblings. Children wake up at 4 a.m. to travel to the open air markets. Each day finding shelter, food, clothing or a place to clean up is a struggle.
Our goal is to eliminate child labor and social/legal discrimination through our programs that serve street and at-risk children and their families in Ecuador. We provide educational services, recreational activities, and social support to over 600 at-risk Ecuadorian kids and adolescents.
Christmas CampaignUbeci has been providing services to the street children of Quito, Ecuador since 1999. The primary focus is to provide children with a break during the day, with an emphasis on educational activities and support, so that the children have a means of going to public school and obtaining a brighter future.
During the holiday season UBECI solicits donations for Christmas, so children can celebrate with their parents who would otherwise be working in the market.
Our annual Christmas program allows parents to take a break from work and celebrate the holiday with their children through music, games and food which staff, volunteers, sponsors and supporters, like yourself, provide and donate. Children are also are given much needed clothing.
How You Can Help!
A $5.00 donation will pay for Christmas snacks provided to a child and their family.
A $15.00 donation would pay for the clothing provided to a child and his family.
A $50.00 donation would provide funds for the costs of providing a party in one of the six markets served by Ubeci. , so Ubeci can purchase, food, clothing and other items for our the children and families.
