Christian's Service Dog
Donation protected
Christian is 6 years old and has already underwent double-digit surgeries for Hydrocephalus, has Cerebral Palsy, Seizure disorder, and Asthma. He's had a difficult childhood already, and countless hospitalizations.
Due to all of his surgeries and procedures, and the significant number of specialists he sees, Christian has developed severe anxiety as well, when visiting any medical facility.
$13,000 sounds like a lot of money for a dog. It's not just a dog though. This is for a certified service dog that will have tailored training to Christian's every need. They will be able to calm him during periods of anxiety. They will be able to counter-balance him while he's mobile, and prevent falling. They'll be able to help pull him in his wheelchair, as needed. They'll be able to help with Christian's balancing problems, so he can use the bathroom and dress/un-dress himself, without falling and potentially hurt himself. They'll be able to alert me when he's having an Asthma attack, or more importantly, when he's having a seizure. They will also be able to carry his rescue seizure medication, information about his diagnoses, and allergies around their neck.
Christian's last seizure required rescue assistance. He was being cared for by the EMTs only minutes after his seizure started. However, had I not noticed it immediately, the consequences could have been grave.
I just want my son to have as normal of a life as possible, and the service dog will significantly aid in that. Most service dogs cost over $20k, however, Jason, at Canines 4 Hope, will train a dog tailored to Christian's needs, for $13k.
If there are any funds raised above the $13k, they will be equally divided between the Cerebral Palsy Foundation and the Hydrocephalus Association, for continuing research for these disabilities.
Thank you so much for helping!!!!
