Changing the World for My 25th Birthday
1). The 2013 screening of Girl Rising that I attended at the World Bank in Washington D.C. where the United Nations Secretary General, Ban-Ki Moon gave the keynote address.
2). Me and LynMara, my dear friend from the College of William & Mary, volunteering as camp counselors at the annual Telem Center for the African Child summer camp in New York in July 2012.
"One girl with courage is a revolution" -Girl Rising
"The Islamist militants' name translates to "Western education is a sin" in the local language.
The group especially opposes the education of women. Under its version of Sharia law, women should be at home raising children and looking after their husbands, not at school learning to read and write."
I'm reminded that education is truly a privilege enjoyed by a few and a sacrifice made by many.
Thank you all so much. Check out my latest video in celebration of our accomplishment and Throwback Thursday. Please continue to donate. Any amount would be much appreciated.
Enjoy your day!
