I have Thyroid Cancer.
On August 17th, 2018 I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer... after many blood tests, ultrasounds, a CT Scan and a biopsy, it was clear, I have a cancerous tumor. Though this news has been difficult to accept, it all made sense. I had been to several doctors with concerns of anxiety, hair loss, weight gain, the health of my skin, and a low energy level, but let’s be honest this is something that most mom’s feel, especially being that I was in Grad School, a full-time job and raising three children. So, I knew something was not right but I also did not expect this.
I finally received a call with the answer...Thyroid Cancer, though this was not the outcome that we were hoping for, but we have an answer and it is curable! I will undergo surgery to remove my thyroid/cancerous tumor on December 11th, 2018 and then if needed treatment.
If I am speaking honestly this is my Goliath, it’s scary, it makes me nervous and at times it can be overwhelming, but now is when I will choose to stand strong, I will pray, I will worship, I will love deeper, and fight for our three beautiful children and my husband. I have an endless amount of reasons to fight, I am a daughter, an aunt, a granddaughter, a teacher and a mom. We ask that you keep our family in your prayers through this difficult time, because we strongly believe in the power of prayer!!!
I apologize if this is a shock to you, and if you are now just hearing this, but this is something that I asked my family not to share because we were trying to wrap our minds around this before sharing it with everyone. If you are able and willing to support my family and I through this journey, it would be a huge blessing.
