Chris Gatto Slaying Cancer

$23,895 of $25,000 goal

Raised by 170 people in 9 months
Created September 7, 2017
A good friend of ours, Chris Gatto, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Chris is starting treatments immediately and the Gattos have a long road ahead of them. He is self employed as a carpenter so as you can imagine he will be out of work while he fights this beast.

Chris is a sweetheart of a guy, a great Dad and husband. A devoted volunteer in Doylestown, who has put more hours into the youth program than we could ever count. Always one of the first at the fields and usually one of the last to leave. Just an all around good person.

If you can, please help this local family. All donations will go to the family to help with medical and household bills.
No donation is too small or too big :)

2/2 update from Sandy

Hi everyone,

It has been awhile since I have sent an e-mail and basically because there has been nothing to say.  Chris is out of pain and off of the pain medicine.  He has been feeling great and has even gained back a bunch of weight.  He handles chemo great.  He has had 11 treatments.  On Tues, he had a CT scan and we met with the oncologist today.  Nothing new really to report.  Things have gotten a little bit better but nothing significant.  As she told us at the beginning, this is going to be a long road.  Chris was really hopeful to hear something better since he has been feeling so good.  The oncologist said she is happy that he is feeling so good.  They are going to keep with the same treatment, same schedule.  Scans again in 3 months or so just to see if they need to make any changes.  Chris was disappointed but he is still ready for the fight.  After a few drinks tonight, down the shore, he will be ready to fight again and keep that positive attitude going.  Thanks again for all of your continued support, prayers and good energy.  I feel it all coming our way.

Go Birds!

Hi everyone,

I know it has been awhile since I’ve sent an update. We have seen a bunch of you through the holidays. Basically, there is nothing new to report. Chris is feeling good. So we hope that is a good sign. They are going to do scans in Feb. That way they can see what is happening and plan the next course of action. So basically, we wait.

Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and support.

I hope you all had a great Christmas. We did. My parents went above and beyond this year (as they have through this whole journey) They took on the financial responsibility of Christmas for not only Alex and Renee but for Chris and me too. I thank you all for what you have done to support us. This journey would be much harder without all of you.

I hope everyone has a great and happy New Year. My heart still overflows so I send some of that energy out there to all of you. Happy 2018.

Update 11/19/17 - Please keep Chris in you prayers..

I haven’t sent out an update in awhile. This is kind of our new normal. There are good days and not so good days. Chris is struggling to find a balance and I can only imagine how hard that is. He is used to going and doing whatever he wants whenever he wants and that isn’t the case anymore. I think he just wants life to be normal but right now it isn’t anything like it used to be.
Chris is 6 treatments in (half way of this round of treatments). He was able to spend 5 days down the beach with his step-mom, sister, aunt and uncle. I think it did him good. He loves his family and the beach. Sat morning (yesterday), he ended up in the ER. He had 2 EKG, a CT scan of his chest, lots of blood work, a bag of fluids and 6 hours later we came home. Dehydration.

For his blood work, the tumor marker number is down. Which is good but that is for the tumor in the colon. The cancer in the omentem is what seems to be the bigger problem. He is experience some pain off and on but he is not taking the pain medicine on a regular base, only when he needs it. So that is good.

Update Part 2:

Just to clarify, Chris is still really positive. And this was not bad news. It is still good. He is off of all the pain medicine and feeling good. It is just going to take more than 4 treatments. Cancer is not an easy journey. And he is still up for the fight and looking forward to his next treatment and the beef and beer
