Christopher Galbreath suffered a catastrophic accident on the morning of September 30, 2016. It's only through God's grace he is even alive!

Chris is an Afghanistan Veteran. More specifically, he is a Wounded Vet and he received the Purple Heart for the injuries sustained during his deployment when his Stryker vehicle was blown up by an IED in early 2010. They had a toddler and a newborn baby at the time of that injury. He was part of the Wounded Warrior program and was later medically retired from service. Now, 6 1/2yrs later, he sustains multiple, more traumatic, injuries on "American soil" where you assume things are safer than overseas in a wartime setting. They now have 5 children with the youngest turning 1yr old at the end of this month. And one of their daughters turns 5yrs old next week. Please remember this family in your prayers. They have endured a lot as a family but never more so than now. Thank you for your support.

On Friday, September 30th, Christopher was walking to the bus stop for a normal end of the working week at the Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.

A car struck Christopher.

He has been in ICU since.

Emergency teams worked quickly to save his life then quickly operated on his legs to save them. There was vacular surgeons that repaired what they could.  They scheduled an amputation for October 3rd.

Hebrews 11:1.  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (KJV)

Doctors checked his legs Saturday, and the blood was flowing. Flowing enough to hold off on the amputation. Families and friends praised the Lord!

Amputation is still on hold. But the struggle is far from over.

Please keep praying for his life and the wisdom of the doctors.  Pray for Tiffany and the burdens that this stressful event is laying on her shoulders and on her family.  Prayers for their children too.  Pray unceasingly.

Christopher's life is still hanging in the balance.

"Today, a year ago, I remember getting a phone call. I had seen C off to work, we talked about our plans to view a house the next day. Then he left and I went back to sleep. I got a call from someone saying I needed to meet C at the hospital. "He...has a broken leg."
The pause was significant, so I filed it away.
When I arrived at the hospital I was shown to a small room to wait for news. I was told that sometimes family was allowed to wait outside the room, but not to expect to be able to. That my husband was in a lot of pain, but they were not able to treat it yet bc they were evaluating his injuries. "It would be rough, sitting out there."
I was beginning to put together the situation more from what I wasn't told than what I was told.
Nearly two hours later, I was fetched from that little room to meet with the surgeons. They informed me that the artery in my husband's right lower leg was completely severed. It had been without blood for almost 4 hours. They were going to try to recreate it, but there was a good chance he was going to need an amputation. Furthermore, the other leg was also shattered, and he could lose that one, too.
I remember thinking, "Stay calm. Just react to what they tell you. With questions, not emotions. Keep them talking."
The surgery was hard. The waiting.
But, already God was sending encouragement to me. ER staff came and checked on me and they arranged for me to shower. Which really helped me feel like a new, stronger woman!
God brought us through that hard time. With help from so many people! In so many ways, we had constant encouragement all through this last year."
Tiffany posted this yesterday. God has brought them full circle. ❤️

It's been a while that an update was posted, but this is well worth the wait.
From Tiffany,...
"Today, we saw the orthopedic surgeon who I met the day of the accident in the ER. I had just seen my sedated husband, and saw the 4-5 empty, discarded bags of blood they had put into my husband while saving his life.
Then I was introduced to the two surgeons. The ortho surgeon explained that they would be taking him into surgery on his legs. "We have saved his life, now we are going to try to save his legs." Life over limbs, there was a chance they would amputate that very day.
After his part in the surgery, he came down to talk to me. The vascular surgeon was still working to restore blood flow in his right leg. But, this gentle man, who was so kind and sympathetic, but very based in reality, was just what God knew I needed that day. He told me, "Your husband will walk again. Even if it's on prosthetics, he walk again."
"We've saved his life," "he will walk again."
These were the words I clung to during the next weeks. It was my focus. That was a hard time, but he was going to live, and we would continue on. In a harder path, but together with our family.

Today, we were told that Chris' break is completely healed, and there is nothing holding him back from prosthetic training. And, as we get ready to start a new part of his recovery, I'm thankful for the surgeon that God brought into our lives that day."

As scheduled, Chris' surgery was March 13th to lengthen the Achilles tendon.
Everything went well.
During the surgery they cut through the little toes and down through the foot and reattached that portion to help the foot to heal. Then they lengthened the Achilles' tendon. They also removed the big toenail.
The cast will change every two weeks for 6 weeks.
Chris may need a brace to keep foot in position and for help walking. This maybe for a time, or permanently.
As always, keep praying for Chris and Tiffany and their family.
After surgery!
Before surgery.

I wish I could help donate, but unfortunately at this time I cannot. I cannon the other hand be a bias ear. My husband had a horrific accident which resulted in an ICU stay, vein graft, as well as amputation. If there is anything his wife or anyone else would like to ask or entity or talk I would be more than glad to help answer questions.

Christopher, My prayers go out to you and your family. I use to work for the Shipyard and on June 8, 2005 I was struck by a van going over 45mpm while I was in the crosswalk. I feel your pain and I know the long and hard road to recovery you have to come. Keep your head up and stay close as a family. You will get through this.

Oh Chris I am so proud of you for hanging in there during those very, very difficult times. You still have some ahead of you but with the Lord beside you and walking with you I have no doubt we will see you around about before no time. You have a very wise young lady as your wife (Tiffany). She has been a witness to so many people while at the same time with the Dr's making wise decisions about your health in order that you might live. I am so grateful to you Tiffany and to you Chris because I have been able to draw closer to you as a family and get to know you in a much deeper way. I Praise God for all that severe pain that he took you through and most of all I am so grateful he spared your life so now you have an opportunity to share with others that are going through the same as you have just how MIGHTY & POWERFUL our GOD is. I know God is going to continue to care for you and your family as the days ahead pass by . He is faithful and kind and Loves you so very much.. Love you Chris & Tif very much..
