Help Chris fight ALS!

This GoFundMe page is being set up for my amazing friend, Christopher Berger.  Chris is one of the most genuine, nurturing people I've ever known, and there are so many of us that are fortunate enough to call him our friend.  Over the years, Chris has given so much to everyone.  He is selfless and loving and would truly give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need.   He is one of the few people that genuinely accepts each and every person he meets, simply for being who they are.  He understands our flaws and he celebrates our strengths. He’s provided us all with countless laughs and smiles, amazing memories, and best of all, unconditional friendship.  It goes without saying that Chris has had a profound impact on so many of our lives.

It’s now time for us to give back.  

After experiencing occasional numbness and slight speech issues, Chris sought out numerous opinions and went through countless hours of testing and hospital visits.  Eventually, every possibility was ruled out, and despite his age and very fast-paced progression, the only diagnosis his doctors can agree on is ALS.  Chris is on every list for every possible clinical trial and has doctors in both, Mt. Sinai and Columbia University, hospitals working diligently to find the right medications or procedures to help him combat ALS and prolong his beautiful life. 

As many of you know, Chris is extremely strong-willed and stubborn (it took him two months to finally agree to even let me start this up), so there’s no doubt that he is going to put up the strongest fight of his life against this awful disease, but the journey has been hard and the road ahead will continue to be a trying one.  With that, there are many expenses that are not covered by insurance, and due to Chris’ current condition, he also had to make the difficult decision to step down from his position at work.

This is where we can help.

All funds collected will go directly to Chris and his beautiful wife, Mayra, in order to help minimize these financial burdens.  Any amount that you can donate would be so greatly appreciated.  Chris and Mayra have two gorgeous boys that love him so much and need their dad for many more years to come.  

You never expect anyone you know to be battling ALS, especially anyone under the age of 40, but it does happen, and it needs all of the exposure it can get.
