A Faithful Struggle. The Thiel’s current battle.
Chris Thiel, Wife of Greg Thiel, mother of Logan, Sophie and Jake was recently alerted of a tumor on her brain. She is currently under the care of the Duke University Medical Center. The tumors’ location is of severe concern.
Many of you will already know this families story… a worldly origin followed by sudden and dramatic life change. An entire family was, by the reality of Jesus, transformed into a family on a mission to follow God’s calling on their life. Greg and Chris were so bold as to walk away from financial security, professional accolades, and the comforts that comes from these things to live a life entirely dependent of God’s provision and love. And so they have, living from paycheck to paycheck to cover past medical bills and forgoing numerous common pleasures of life to be ministry focused.
Hundreds of you have witnessed the sincere faith of Chris and Greg… whether you have known them for decades and saw firsthand the life change, or if you have just known them for a few months and have are being loved and cared for by them in ways you may never have by Christ followers.
The simple truth of this situation is that the Thiel’s are going right through a storm. Their compass is the Holy Spirit and they are clothed with the hope of eternity. Our simple truth is that our friends… our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus are hurting and we need to respond. How well will we love them? Let your response be spirit led and bold for their boldness requires it.
The short term concern is how to keep the regular finances covered plus the heavy burden of travel to and from the hospital (4hrs each way), unknown number of hotel stays for Greg and children, significant expenses for food throughout the process. Pray for Chris and her healing… pray for Greg and his strength to lead and comfort… pray for the children and that they will be courageous and covered. Then please search your heart and remember how this family has blessed you and respond in kind.
