Chris Stein Medical Fund
I am starting this GoFundMe account for Chris, to help him as he pushes through Dr's appointments, hang ups on finaincial aid, and lifes bills.
You can be brought up to speed with the on goings of Chris' struggles on his FaceBook page
This money will be used to help Chris get through daily life, mounting Dr bills etc. and making sure Hippo Nurse is properly nurished to help in the fight!
Also stay tuned for some awesome Music Benefit shows to help Chris out in this time of need. Nothing better than seeing old friends and helping a brother in need out all at the same time.
Thank you in advance.
We love you Chris. Stay Up and Stay Strong.
There will also be a Silent Auction with all of the proceeds going to Chris to help him financially as he continues his battles with the Vicous Bitch Cancer. All proceeds from the show will go to Chris as well.
I know there will be some amazing pieces / art / sports memorabilia available in the Silent Auction along with a ripping line up of live music. I hope to see you there!

It's been awhile since I've posted an "official" update, although some of you have probably seen me griping about trying to get health insurance lately.
After two weeks of leaving messages and trying to reach my contact at Human Services, in a last ditch effort, I was actually able to reach her last Friday. And despite my previous conversation with her (where she told me I was denied coverage because I made $200 too much w/ my unemployment), this time she said I actually DID qualify for Medi-Cal. She said I was accepted way back in early December. WTF??? I pointed out to her that as of January 18th, I was only told my application was received and was under review. My income hadn't changed to my knowledge (I believe State Disability is the same as unemployment benefits, but maybe there is a slight difference?). Anyways, I was only accepted for a 3 month block, which is particularly frustrating as I've already lost two months of it upon notification of qualifying for it. Does that make ANY sense? Even more ridiculous is that right when I got off the phone with her, my acceptance letter showed up in the mail right then.
My urologist's office doesn't accept Medi-Cal, so in turn, is unable to authorize the tests that I need and am now behind schedule on getting. So, I'm forced to find a different doctor now. I called my regular doctor's office last week and said I need to come down a sign a release form to have all my records released. As of today I now have a copy of all of them. I called multiple doctors around L.A. and Ventura Counties to find someone who would accept Medi-Cal. I was referred to a hospital called Olive View in the San Fernando Valley. I was told to just go to their ER and tell them I have cancer and get into their system. This facility seems to have their own urology department, so there is a chance I may be able to get all my tests done under one roof instead of driving all over town like I usually do. We'll see.
If I can just get a doctor to authorize my tests, I really don't care where I do them. I just need to get them done. I also have to sign up for a new health plan by February 15th. I'm not sure if I will even have the option to return to my former doctor if there isn't a plan offered that his office accepts. That's something I'll have to worry about on another day.
In the meantime, wish me luck when while I crash the party at this ER.
