A hero among us needs your help!!
Sgt. Lewis Christopher Smith III- a Decorated U.S. Marine, Award winning Educator, Teacher of the Year Recipient, Voluntary youth soccer and robotics coach, devoted husband and dedicated father of two, are just a few of the highly respected accolades of our Hero.
Shattered by a recent diagnosis of a life-threatening and aggressive form of cancer known as Multiple Myeloma, Chris and his family are tragically faced with devastating burdens of an uncertain future, crippled by the effects of mounting medical costs needed to endure his fight against a disease of epic proportions.
NOW is our opportunity to give back to a man who has given so much, for so long, dedicating his whole life to his Country, Family, Community and his Students. Together, we need to be the defenders of this family!! It is time to rally the troops and show this man-YES WE CAN stand beside him in his time of need!!
Chris is continuing to teach while enduring an aggressive treatment plan of twice weekly chemotherapy as he prepares to undergo stem cell transplant in early spring. The transplant will force Chris to be off for several months which will be largely unpaid. It is crucial for Chris to continue working as long as possible to ensure that his insurance stays in effect for the duration of his treatment. As you can imagine, this will severely impact his life and the lives of his wife and children.
Chris' heroism extends far beyond the depths of most. During his rigorous chemotherapy treatments, he simply will not take time off work, away from his students. He is committed to inspiring our next generation of scientists, innovators and pioneers. His passion to transform lives in his classroom is simply unvanqusihed.
Heroes are people who impact the lives of others for the betterment of a greater cause and not themselves. Chris' pride and integrity has always been highly regarded and respected. Uniting together for one man, We, the Students, the Parents, the Community, Colleagues, Friends and Family of Chris Smith, will not let him fight alone. We implore your will of faith, compassion, kindness and generosity to help us support the Smith family as they embark upon a journey with uncertainty.
