Chris Siddons Memorial Fund For PTSD Recovery

“When I tell my story, it enables and encourages people to tell their story, which releases some of the pain. “Pain is not weakness.”-  Chris Siddons

Chris Siddons -  Husband , Father,  Veteran First Responder, Peer Supporter, OSI-CAN Founder, and Advocate for those that live with an Operational Stress Injury (OSI) - took his own life on February 28th. After losing his greatest battle, the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that arose from his OSI.

Chris's work with OSI sufferers and other Peer Supporters has helped change face and direction of Mental Health treatment services for OSI sufferers, and their families, in Saskatchewan, and Canada. His work, has helped reduce the Stigma of Traumatic Stress  Injury for all frontline workers.

Chris dreamed of a safe place where Frontline Workers could go to relax, rest, and begin a journey of recovery alongside of their peers.

Sadly, his illness claimed Chris on the eve of such a place existing.

Jason Siddons, Chris's brother of Saskatoon, and myself (Chris's spouse), Tania Breen of Eastend Sk, continue to believe in that dream as well.
It our wish as Chris's family, that, in lieu of flowers, that your donations go directly to the rising funeral expenses  as he was someone who's focus was always providing for others but never himself .  Should funds raised be in excess of the expenses we hope to set up a trust fund for Chris's youngest child, Sophie, to help her with post secondary education when she becomes of age.

Just South of Prince Albert. A ranch has been donated as a safe, and professionally supervised facility for Frontline Workers to Rest, Relax, and Recover from their Operational Stress Injuries.
This page will stay open long term to continue to raise funds raised to continue to fulfilling Chris's dreams.  Those donations will go towards building memorial cabins at the Operational Stress Injury Resilience and Recovery Ranch.  These memorial cabins will be named after Chris and his dog Sierra.
10 cabins are needed, to begin to make even the smallest impact on the plague that Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has become in our society. Chris even hated the term  "Disorder" itself.  Citing that Frontline Workers were being injured. An injury is not a disorder.

Injuries such as these are complex. And Chris's story tells us all that even the greatest journeys do not always end as planned.
What Chris, and his family want most is for those that are affected by Operational Stress Injuries no longer suffer in silence. Or suffer alone.

It is time to end the silence.
It is time to end the suffering.
Your donations will help Chris, and his family's wishes to be fulfilled.
