Chris Nieves #ChrisStrong Family

Dear family, friends and supporters,

My husband Victor Nieves, and I started this campaign for our son, Christopher M. Pagan (#ChrisStrong/Chris Nieves).

After MRIs, CT scans, blood draws, bone marrow biopsy and lumbar puncture (spinal tap), the hospital diagnosed Christopher with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, a form of a dangerous blood cancer.

Chris is a 16 year old, very caring and loveable boy, who was attending his Junior year at East Hartford High School, up until his diagnosis on 11/7/16. He was a part of the E.H.H.S. Hornets Football team (Linebacker/Tight End) but his grades weren't up to his standards.
He then promised to work hard on his grades, just so he can be back on the team, and he did so, to a level where he has placed himself on the honor roll and again, be a part of his passion... Football.
But then, this happened!

 Chris has an amazing support response, both from students and faculty (teachers & guidance counselors) who are there for him at any moment, and with God by our side, we have all the faith that he will defeat this Cancer.

Though the news was devastating to us, as parents... Chris' first words after he was told he had cancer were "Mom, We got this!"

Everyone that knows Chris has experienced his thoughtfulness, love, and respect for everyone that he encounters.  As is typical of his selflessness, he’s been extremely optimistic and positive through this unsettling journey.

As friends and family are learning this news and thinking of all of the wonderful memories that they’ve shared with Chris, many are asking what they can do to help.  On top of the expected expenses, my husband and I are unable to work and will be by his side during treatment.

My husband was a radio broadcaster for many years and was always involved in any and every charity event, to raise awareness and funds for others, but now is out of work and is only driving for UBER, a couple of hours a week, when possible.

 It is time for us to humble ourselves and ask for help!

For those that are able, we are asking to help in any way possible. No matter how large or small, your individual gift can make a real impact and give us one less thing to worry about during this trying time.  All money will go directly to Chris' and our family to help with medical bills in addition to our normal expenses. 

If this is the first you’re hearing about this, please understand that my husband Victor and I are still in the very early stages of processing everything. We need to be focused on understanding this illness and Chris' treatment plan.  Thoughts and prayers would be very much appreciated!
