My family is raising money for my dad Chris Larsen.  He had a quadruple bypass a few days after New Years Day.   While in the hospital he was put on Heparin which is a blood thinner.  At the time it wasn't known that he was allergic to it.   He started to show different symptoms including blood clots and swollen legs and feet.  My dad was kept on it and continued to have pain in his legs.   He suffered irreversible damage to his right leg and left foot due to gangrene.  He's currently at Whittier Rehab Hospital awaiting surgery to amputate half of his right leg and possibly all the toes on his left foot.  Chris is a well known guy that greets everyone with a smile at Larsen's Shoe Store.  He is a Vietnam veteran and has lived a life of service to the country and the community.  He has been a stubborn Fin his entire life and never asks anyone for anything, but now he knows he is in a battle in which he needs help. We are raising money to assist with unforeseen expenses such as home renovations, medical bills, rehabilitation,  and equipment he may need to make this life altering experience a little easier. We truly appreciate any donation to help our father on his way to a new life. Regards, Family of Chris Larsen

Hi All,

Our dad is home!! He has been home for a week now and getting settled in. Thanks to all of you we were able to build a ramp at the front of the house so he could get in. If there was no ramp he wouldn't be able to come home. So, we are so grateful to all of you who donated!!!!

Hi,

We have some great news! Our dad will be coming home tomorrow! He will be in a wheelchair for a few days, but should be getting his loaner prosthetic on Thursday. He will have many more months of therapy ahead of him, but he is super happy now that he gets to come home. Thank you all!

Hi, Update time!

Our dad is back at Whittier Rehabilitation Center getting stronger. He stood up on his left leg after 3.5 months of not being on his feet! He says it hurts, but we are all very excited to see him do this! He continues to get stronger everyday. Wendy and I went to visit him yesterday and he did 3 hours of physical therapy in the morning. I told him he was going to get jacked! He just laughs and says ya right!

Keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he continues on his journey.

Hi, A little update on our dad. He had his amputation done and he is doing very well. He is currently still in the hospital and they won't release him to rehab until his blood count is correct with the two blood thinners he is on. So we are waiting patiently for the next step.

Thank you all again for donating! We truly appreciate all the help!
