Who Am I?
Hi. My name is Faizah Imani, writer, producer and director of a brand new original web series, "Choosing Chastity." I have been writing most of my life, winning a national award at age 12. However, it wasn't until late 2011 that I realized and fully embraced the gift God had given me to write shows that have strong African American leading roles. "Choosing Chastity" is exactly that kind of show.
Why Was Choosing Chasity Created?
I wrote "Choosing Chastity" in 2011, after watching a movie produced by Bishop T.D. Jakes, entitled "Jumping The Broom." In that movie, at the end of scene one, Sabrina (played by Actress Paula Patton) prays to God, asking Him to send her the man of her dreams. She promises to stop giving her "cookies" away until she finds him. At the very beginning of scene 2, Sabrina meets Jason (played by Actor Laz Alonzo). And he ends up being the husband she prayed for.
Because I prayed the prayer of Sabrina back in 2000, vowing to remain chaste/celibate until I met my husband, I understood that prayers like hers usually don't get answered so fast. For me, it has been 18 years of celibacy, and I still haven't met my husband. So I decided to create "Choosing Chastity" to show the funny and dramatic situations that can happen after someone takes a vow of celibacy.
"Choosing Chastity" was originally written and formatted for television, as a 30 minute episodic dramedy series. However, those who know me, know that I have never been one to sit around twiddling my thumbs, waiting for my dreams to happen. I believe in going out and making them happen. I produced "Choosing Chastity" as a web series, with hopes of getting it picked up by a major television network. That is not only my dream, but also the dream of every cast and crew member working on this show.
Why Should You Join Us?
Producing a project like "Choosing Chastity" is expensive. We were blessed to finish season one, without having to sacrifice the vision, due to a lack of finances. God has been divinely funding the vision. Every dime I get, I have been investing into the production. I believe that before asking anyone else to invest in your dreams, you have to be willing to "go all in" yourself. I am ALL IN. I have always been ALL IN, and will forever be ALL IN...
The cast and crew that we have attached to the "Choosing Chastity" Series is AMAZING. All cast and crew members have been working tirelessly, 12 hour set days, without pay, because they believe in the script and the vision God has given me for this show. The cast and crew are ALL IN...
As proud as we are of season one, we want to make SEASON TWO even BETTER! For that reason, we are soliciting your help. With your help, we don't have to sacrifice the vision. Will you go ALL IN with us and join us on this epic mission to create SEASON TWO of Choosing Chastity?
