Chloe Needs A Win

Donation protected
Chloe was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) shortly after her 12th birthday. She was the first child diagnosed with this rare childhood cancer in the previous 18 months in British Columbia. We joked that this was because she was such a rare diamond but there was nothing funny about it...as we were to learn.

As a family we settled into a routine of medication and regular visits to BC Childrens Hospital and maintained a somewhat normal life. But Cancer wasn't done with us yet. Several months later Chloe's mother was diagnosed with cancer. She was lost to us New Years Day 2013.

Through 2015 and into early 2016 Chloe attended high school and did as much as 7 hours of homework in the evening. She also worked a part time job. All this while receiving weekly transfusions to support her fragile body. There were days when I would drive to her school to pick her up after she had collapsed and was laying down in the nurses room. So strong was her conviction to graduate and attend university. Her hard work paid off as she graduated Honors with Distinction and was awarded several scholarships.

But her cancer had other plans and this past March she ended up in Childrens Hospital in full blast crisis. I almost lost her that first weekend and again a few months later but Chloe is a fighter. We've adjusted to pretty much living at Childrens Hospital and value those rare visits home. The goal is a Bone Marrow Transplant but there have been, and continue to be, complications that have prevented us moving forward.

Cancer has decimated our family. Taking those we love and financially ruining us.

We are looking to raise funds to help with expenses related to Chloes care and comfort as well as to support day to day needs of the family.

Who am I? I am Chloes father. I left the work force several years ago to support Chloe with her health and unique personal needs. With no consistent income and ever rising costs related to her illness it has  been very difficult. Being in a better financial position would relieve a lot of stress in an already hyper stressful situation.

If you've read this far I thank you for taking the time.

Best Wishes for A Merry Christmas and don't forget to hug your kids...every chance you get.
