Help The Hospice of St Francis bring joy to the lives of bereaved children at Christmas and into the New Year.
Christmas is a time for families, fun and laughter. But, for some children, who’ve lost a funny grandpa, cuddly nan or their brilliant and irreplaceable mum to serious illness, it can be a time of great sadness – especially when there is an empty seat at the Christmas dinner table.
We want the children we look after to realise they're not alone this Christmas time and have the chance to connect with others in a similar situation. So, we are asking for your donations to help us put on a Children's Christmas party in early December, followed by an outing in the New Year for teenagers.
And, with further donations we're looking to refurbish our Children's 'Sunshine Room' with appropriate toys and craft items and by updating it with a whole new look. We hope you can help us.
This is our Children's Wish list. We will be grateful for whatever donation you can afford which will help us reach our four target crowdfunding goals.
Bereavement can take a huge toll on a child – they can feel sad, anxious, angry and lonely. Dealing with grief and coping with growing up can seriously affect a child's relationship at home and at school.
That’s why our specialist children’s team is here throughout the year providing much-needed support for all children who need us during a serious illness, or following the death, of someone they really love. We tailor our activities to every child but have a whole array of support on offer from 1:1 sessions plus group sessions such as teen drop-ins, arts & craft, family film mornings, holiday-time activities and stories at our Storyteller's Chair. Our goal is to help children through their grief and be here to talk with them, whenever they need us.
