A quick recap of our story and the purpose of this campaign:
Purpose:
1) To raise awareness about traumatic brain injuries in youth baseball / softball and other sports
2) To donate funds to Children's Medical Center Trauma Unit. They saved our son's life.
Our Story:
Our son, Hudson, was struck in the head with a baseball and suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) earlier this week during his team’s normal baseball practice. He was rushed to the Pediatric Trauma Unit at Children's Medical Center in Dallas where they performed an emergency surgery to stop the bleeding and relieve the pressure on his brain. The surgery was successful, and he should make a full recovery. Words cannot describe how grateful we are that Hudson is going to be OK. I Praise the Lord for saving our child.
The injury Hudson suffered is relatively uncommon, but IT DOES HAPPEN and it is fatal 15-20% of the time. This is the exact same baseball injury sustained by MLB player Brandon McCarthy in 2012.

Our Wish:
We’ve shared our story with friends, family, the baseball community and through social media in the hopes to raise awareness. We want to ensure that if anyone else were confronted with the same situation, the athletes would receive proper and timely care, as Hudson did, for the best outcome.
The response to our story has been overwhelming and we feel this is an opportunity to do something even greater. To that end, we’re starting a fundraiser to help us create and conduct awareness campaigns during the upcoming Spring baseball/Softball season. We will also, donate funds to the amazing Neurosurgical Trauma Unit at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Sharing our story to prevent the wrong outcome for others is our first priority, but we will also be deeply grateful for any and all donations. No donation is too small – every dollar will be used toward awareness campaigns and for the continued support of the Children’s Medical Center Foundation.
