Support for family of Chet Britt

Our dear friend and colleague, Chet Britt, Chair of the Iowa State University Sociology Department and former Dean of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Northeastern University, was out for a run a few weeks ago when he was stung by a wasp. Chet is very allergic to wasps and he went into anaphylactic shock including cardiac arrest for some period of time. When Chet was admitted to the hospital he was placed in a medically-induced coma. Chet suffered extensive brain damage as a result of the cardiac arrest. His family made the difficult decision to remove Chet from life support. Sadly, Chet passed away on August 30th.

Friends and colleagues of Chet’s have started a fund to raise money to support his family during this difficult time.  Chet was always willing to go out of his way to support others.  We ask you to consider donating to help support his loved ones in the difficult period.
