My mom, Cheryl Taylor, quite literally stumbled into finding out she had breast cancer. In October 2017 she fell and fractured her arm. Shortly after her fall she began having severe vertigo and called to schedule a CT scan of her head and neck to check for further injuries from her fall. The doctors office noticed that she was overdue for a mammogram and encouraged her to have it done the same day (which she almost turned down!). With some divine intervention she agreed and had her mammogram that same day. And very shortly afterwards we received the heartbreaking news...

My mom, Cheryl Taylor, was diagnosed with breast cancer on November 28th, 2017. A battery of scans, tests and biopsies confirmed what we had feared...the cancer had already begun to spread from her breast to surrounding lymph nodes. So on January 25th my mom had a double mastectomy and had 8 lymph nodes removed. Six of the eight removed lymph nodes contained cancer cells. Her surgery went very well but her recovery has been pretty rough. She left the hospital with two drains that were miserable and painful and were left implanted for a few weeks until they began to become infected.

Now she has healed enough to move onto the next stage of her treatment...chemotherapy. On February 21st we met with oncologist Dr. Lewis and the following Friday she had a chemo port surgically implanted. She will have her first 6 hour chemo treatment on Tuesday, February 27th.

So that is where we are at now. Her chemotherapy treatments are expected to take 5-6 months and will be followed by several weeks of radiation therapy and then, finally, reconstructive surgery.

My Mom’s journey has already been an understandably rough road and she still has many miles to go. But she is crazy strong and a fighter and I have absolutely no doubt that she will beat her cancer. She is laser focused on getting well so that she get back to the things in life that bring her joy...spending time with family and friends, being an amazing Grammy to her grandkids Carson and Rylie and her job as Resort Manager at Wine Country RV Resort in Paso Robles. A job that she loves and is fulfilled by. But cancer is expensive business and her medical bills have already begun to roll in. So I am setting up this page for her to raise funds so that she can stay focused on the only thing that matters—getting well for herself and those that desperately love her!!

A giant thanks to those who have already donated! There are no words to express how truly thankful we are for your amazing contribution! And a thank you in advance for those who plan to donate in the future. Every single dollar is greatly appreciated!!
