Instrument for Checotah Senior
Donation protected
My name is Jim Davis, and I’m the band director at Checotah Public Schools, Checotah, Oklahoma. I am asking for assistance in purchasing an instrument for Elizabeth Rogers, one of our senior band students who plays the clarinet in the high school band and the alto sax in our jazz program. She has been a member of the band program for eight years.
During her band career her record has been impeccable. After first auditioning in seventh grade, Elizabeth has been chosen and performed as a top ranked clarinetist in the Eastern District Honor Band every year. She has been selected and performed as the first chair clarinetist in the Oklahoma Secondary Small School All State Band for the past three years.
After auditioning among the best high school clarinet performers in the state, she was selected and performed in the OKMEA (Oklahoma Music Educators Association) All State Wind Symphony for the past three years. The OKMEA Wind Symphony consists of the most elite high school musicians in our state.
Elizabeth has been playing some of the instruments donated to our school several years ago by Carrie Underwood’s CATS Foundation, therefore those instruments will have to stay at CHS. I would like to give Elizabeth the gift of a quality clarinet to help with her music needs as she continues her education at Oklahoma State University next fall.
Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated. We have other deserving seniors and any extra money, after purchasing the clarinet, will go towards instruments for them.
Checks may be made out to:
Checotah High School Band Boosters with the memo Elizabeth Rogers Clarinet Fund.
Thank you for your consideration in helping this student continue using her musical talents at
the college level.
Sincerely,
Jim Davis - Band Director
