Hi all! Seamus McGrath here! I am participating in ‘The Race’ held in Donegal in March 2019. This is one of the toughest endurance races in the world. It is a 250km unsupported race in the North West of Donegal.
It begins with half a marathon, followed by a 15km kayak, then onto a 96km cycle along the hills of Donegal, next there is a 2.5km run/walk/scramble up Muckish mountain and 2.5km that brings you back down to another 68km cycle before the last stage of the race which is a full marathon. And all this is to be completed within 24hours. We begin at 5am on Saturday and must be finished by 5am the next morning.
I had entered the race in 2017 but due to an injury I was unable to compete the last stage of the Race so I’m back to finish it off.
I’m fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland as my father was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia 2 years ago today and seeing his decline and the impact is has had on my family, I have seen the importance of fundraising for research and support of this illness that affects many people’s loved ones.
Any donation to this fundraiser is greatly appreciated and will go to a great cause.
