Charlotte's Angels

Let us start by introducing our incredible daughter Charlotte Godoy, who's 3 years old. The youngest of our three daughters, so you know she can put up a fight to keep up with her older sisters 9 and 5. She's one strong and courageous little girl. We know she has the fight in her to defeat cancer.

Cancer......something we all never want to hear. How did this happen? She doesn't look sick. She's running around, riding her bike, dancing and singing around the house. How did we get here?

January 24, 2017 we took Charlotte to Urgent Care after she started to urinate blood. She was treated for a UTI and sent home with antibiotics.

January 26, 2017 we get a phone call from Urgent Care telling us her urine lab came back with no bacteria for a UTI. We take her immediately to the ER. It was there that they did an ultrasound of her kidneys and found the large tumor that had taken over her right kidney.

January 27, 2017 we miraculously get a same day appointment with a pediatric urologist. He tells us the whole kidney needs to come out.

February 2, 2017 Charlotte goes through a 4 hour surgery to remove her right kidney. Now we patiently wait a week to get the results back from the biopsy.

February 10, 2017 we meet with her surgeon and he gives us the news that the tumor was cancer. Wilms tumor to be exact which is Kid cancer of the kidneys. It felt surreal.

February 13, 2017 we meet with the oncology team that will help Charlotte go through her chemotherapy. To go through chemotherapy she will need to get a port placed in her chest. That means another surgery and hospital stay.

Fast forward today the world our family knew a month ago has been changed forever. Our new normal includes doctors visits, hospital stays and chemotherapy. We have a tough year ahead of us but we are taking it day by day.

Our family is beyond grateful for your support and prayers! If you find it in your heart to donate to her medical expenses thank you so much for your generosity. Please feel free to share Charlotte's story.

With all our love,
Charlotte's Mommy and Daddy
