Baby Charlotte

Donation protected
We are asking for donations for Charlotte Francis and her family.

This is the story of her early struggle of what will undoubtedly be a beautiful life...

Baby Charlotte was born on October 28, 2018 at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

She was transferred to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh on October 30 due to bilious emesis.  It was determined that she had Necrotizing Enterocolitis, or NEC .

In NEC, the intestine can no longer hold waste. Bacteria may pass into the bloodstream and cause a life-threatening infection.  Waste may pass into the baby's abdomen and make the baby very sick.  NEC is fairly common in premature babies, but Charlotte being full term yields increased issues.

On November 2, Baby Charlotte needed a bowel resection to remove the dead portion of her intestine.  Due to swelling, the remainder of her intestines were unable to be replaced until two days later.

She is now equipped with an ostomy for the next several months and is still at UPMC Children's Hospital, where she will remain for several more weeks.

My brother, Ryan, has already exhausted his PTO time with the unforeseen extended hospital stay for Baby Charlotte.  He was denied donations of PTO days by his coworkers.  Working several hours away from home will be difficult in the even of an emergency, as well as providing general care for Baby Charlotte and his wife Jennifer.

Your donation will be used to help cover costs of the procedure, the extended hospital stay, medical supplies once she finally arrives home, her medical insurance and any general bills that may arrive due to the situation.

ANY DONATION WILL HELP!

THANK YOU!
