Charlotte - LP Foundation

Charlotte has an older sister that has Autism.
She is the most beautiful creative girl that has struggled with bullying and not being able to relate and understand social cues, instructions and things that come easily to to the average child.
As most children with Autism comes a number of other diagnosis’, she has Kidney Reflux type 3, ADD, OCD, Anxiety and Depression, and early last year was diagnosed with epilepsy.
She is high functioning, smart, kind and highly creative.
She looks like the average teenager making it hard for people to understand the difficulties she faces every day.
The bullying would get quite intense as her Obsessive Compulsive Disorder would lead her to uncontrollably pick her skin where she had dug holes all over her body from age 3 till last year, now she is 15.
Last year Charlotte’s sister who was in year 9 then, was not able to last most days past 1pm at school due to having seizures, panic attacks, constant cold sweats, shakes, throwing up and excessive tiredness.
As a mum I would always be on call along with my husband (as we still are) to pick her up and bring her home to sleep. She would sleep on the way to school (only a 10 minute drive), be awake till 1pm then I would pick her up bring her home where she would sleep till around 7.30-8pm where she’d wake up have dinner and a shower then dive back into bed only to do it all over again... She was having weekly appointments with either her Paediatrician, Nuerologist, Psychiatrist, Doctor or be going for blood tests and amazingly she was able to still pass year 9 (moving her marks from As and Bs to Cs and Ds) but getting through! She is a trooper. She is amazing.
We finally feel medically from her fantastic team we are able to manage her seizures and overall health. She has stopped picking and is happy, making a tonne of ‘puns’ every day making us all laugh (and driving us a bit nuts). But so happy to see her laughing (even at her own jokes hehe).
She is still struggling with finding her ‘niche’. But she will.

Thankfully, Charlotte loves the spotlight and this year has been asking to try and enter a pageant (turning out that she had been accepted into not one but three! In three different states - Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland) representing NSW as a Mini Miss (I wasn’t even aware Pageants were in Australia!) from this we discovered through the ‘Miss Continents Australia’ ran by Kim Cancellier This amazing foundation called the ‘Luke Priddis Foundation’ located in Penrith NSW.

Since finding them and seeing all the services they provide for families that need the support and guidance we have just been blown away.
They help families with young children that have just been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and even adults needing that support and guidance... the other day I was there one of the awesome ladies that worked there where helping a 35 year old who had no support.
They are there to help these families navigate the journey from diagnosis to ultimate support.
Providing play groups, including fun days and meet ups for teens.
Parent support groups, support for siblings of children with ASD.
Providing teacher/ professional training as per request. School talks to inform students of children with ASD, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology and Diagnosis, Sensory Integration, Early Intervention, Behavioural Management, Social and Living Skill Development and NDIS Planning, Coordination and Support

This organisation depends on donations and support from the public to keep their work continuing.

As well as the above mentioned work, every donation brings the Luke Priddis Foundation closer to achieving their goal of building the first ASD Early Intervention Centre of Excellence and how awesome would that be!

So with all of that information we are wanting to raise as much money as we can to help families like ours through this organisation, Raise awareness and understanding and hopefully stop any bullying towards these children through understanding.
Where children and adults can accept them for how amazingly wonderful they are along with helping these individuals with ASD to accept and understand themselves and see how wonderful they are the way Loving family members see them.
Charlotte is aiming to raise $2,500.00 by the end of the year.

All monies donated will go towards a target amount and then will be given in its entirety to the
Luke Priddis Foundation - Supporting Kids with Autism Spectrum Disorders
