Washington Explorer Search and Rescue - Pierce County Unit (PCESAR) is an organization of volunteers ages 14 and up, founded to assist local law enforcement in the search for missing persons in urban and wilderness settings, natural disasters, recovery of evidence, and evacuation of the injured.

We are a 100% volunteer search and rescue unit. We do not charge people for rescues we perform; we rely 100% on donations and grants to fund our missions. The funds raised in this campaign will go towards furthering our mission by helping maintain equipment, purchase new equipment, supplement training costs, and more!

Pierce County Explorer Search and Rescue (PCESAR) is a volunteer-based ground search and rescue team, formed in 1966 as the second ESAR unit in Washington State. PCESAR serves Pierce Countyespecially wilderness and urban areasunder the leadership of the Pierce County Sheriffs Department Primary Mission: Assist local law enforcement in locating and rescuing lost, injured, or missing persons in wilderness and urban environments, and responding to natural disasters, evacuations, and evidence recovery operations Emergency Response: Operates around the clock24/7with trained volunteers (ages 14 and up) and works under Incident Command structures during SAR missions
