Last fundraiser race of the year!
This year I've set a personal goal to run a 5k, 10k, and half marathon and figured why not make things a little more interesting by fundraising for a great cause while we’re at it!
Our first event (the Circle of Care 5k) was a massive success in which 26 friends and family participated in the run and many others generously donated to the cause. In total, our team raised over $2500 for families of children with cancer. The second event (the Hop River 10k) was also very successful. Thanks to many amazing supporters, we raised $2,000 for the Sterling House Community Center food pantry!
The last race of the year will be the Gulf Beach Half Marathon in Milford, CT on September 10th. I will be running to raise funds for Sterling House Community Center. Sterling House is located in Stratford, CT and has been serving the community since 1932. It functions as a preschool, after-school program, summer camp, youth athletics program, and food pantry. Sterling House has always been a special part of my life. Throughout my childhood, I participated in many youth sports and camps, and now as an adult I have served as a basketball coach for the past three years.
Every season, kids are unable to participate in athletics due to a lack of finances. The majority of Sterling House athletic programs are between $50-100 per season. The goal of this fundraiser is to raise funds for families that struggle to pay for their child to participate in youth sports.
If you’d like to join the cause and support Sterling House help those in need, any size donation is greatly appreciated. 100% of your donation will go towards the athletic program.
