In 2020, the Cottonwood Trail turns 30 and we need your help in restoring the Boardwalk. Officially know as the Edwin M. Griffin Nature Preserve, in honor of a longtime volunteer, the Cottonwood Trail is one of the city’s finest natural offerings where you can join Spartanburg residents who are jogging, walking or cycling. Founded in 1990, the Cottonwood Trail is a 115 recreational nature preserve that features 5 miles of trail and a boardwalk over 20 acres of wetlands. Over 60,000 people enjoy the Trail annually and your donation will help make their experience even better.
Our Boardwalk Restoration Project will make our visitor experience more user-friendly, educational, and fun with new railings, an observation deck and new way finding signage. Our goal is to raise $100,000 to support these efforts, and thanks to the Spartanburg County Foundation and proceeds from our 2018's A Shucking Good Time fundraiser, we are 30% of the way there!
