Our names are Max Oreper and Beckett Rogalski. We are both 7th graders at NCCL School in Newark, DE. Our school is doing a project called The Big Give, where each student is given fifty dollars and asked to make a difference with the money.
Our goal is to do more than simply donate the money, but to try to make it grow, use it to purchase needed items, raise awareness, and to get others involved to help us.
We are working with the Police Athletic League of Wilmington (PALW) because it really breaks our hearts that kids don't always have access to play sports or have a place to hang out after school so we are trying to make a difference and help PALW in a small way. To think that people can’t afford to do what they love is so saddening to us. Sports have been a big part of our lives and helped shape who we are today. Did you know that in the U.S., almost 59% of the families who play sports and activities are having trouble paying for them? That is why we have chosen PALW to partner with.
We find that what PALW is able to do is something that is so important for the community to be able to access. They offer free after school programs for kids whose families can not afford to do sports outside of school. PALW is such an important resource for kids to have and we feel very strongly about supporting them.
Our goal is to raise around $1,000 in both money and items for PALW. If we are able to raise this money, we will be able to give kids more sports equipment and help PALW continue to be the great company they are today.
We are also collecting the following supplies that have been requested by them: Deodorant, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Underwear for youth in all sizes, Socks for youth in all sizes, Basketballs, Ping Pong Paddles, and Ping Pong Balls.
