Help Us Bring HOPE to Families in Need!

At Operation HOPE-North County, we provide shelter, stability, and support to families and individuals as they work toward independence. With homelessness at crisis levels across San Diego, the need for safe, supportive spaces has never been greater. Our shelter is located in Vista, CA. We have 12 rooms with the capacity to house 45 individuals. Over 60% of our beds are occupied by youth ages newborn to 17 years of age.

With your help, we can ensure that everyone who walks through our doors has access to a safe place to stay, warm meals, and personalized programs to rebuild their lives.

Our comprehensive services empower families to thrive. From youth programs that inspire and educate, to parenting classes that strengthen family bonds, and case management that offers tailored support, we’re there every step of the way. We also provide financial literacy classes for parents, helping them build the skills needed to achieve long-term stability and independence.

I’ve been inspired by the resilience of the families we serve and our community’s willingness to support them. Families like the Juarezes, who recently came to us after losing their home due to unexpected medical bills, remind us of how quickly circumstances can spiral. Maria and her two children, Daniel and Sofia, arrived at Operation HOPE scared and unsure of what the future held. With our support, Maria was able to find stable employment while Daniel and Sofia returned to school with the supplies and encouragement they needed. Today, they are thriving in permanent housing and rebuilding their lives.

Every $90 provides one night of shelter for a person in need. As a nonprofit, donations from individual donors are critical to our sustainability. Our annual budget is $1.3 million for the year. Our goal is to raise 30% of our funds from individual donors so we can keep our doors open. Your generosity helps us create a brighter future for those experiencing homelessness. It’s been a rough year for me personally. Experiencing breast cancer has required me to put a temporary pause on much of my community commitments. This year for my birthday I invite you to help fulfill my birthday wish by helping me raise $1,051 in honor of my 51st birthday. I no longer take my health or having a place to live for granted. By the time I reached high school our family had moved at least 25 times. Our home was often a house, a studio and apartment, but sometimes it was a living room space, a couch, the floor in someone’s home, and even a small storage/laundry space in someone’s house.

This shelter gives families dignity, resources and hope. Your donation will make a difference by providing families with children and single women a safe environment and a warm bed in a private room just for their family. For this birthday I'm raising money to benefit Operation HOPE-North County, Inc., and your donation will help make an impact. When families get here they work hard, take parenting classes, learn about budgeting and finances and they set goals to regain their independence. They work with case managers to set goals and to make a plan to find a job, or get training and sustainable housing. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me. This is especially important to me because on most nights more than 60% of the clients are children!

More information about Operation HOPE-North County, Inc.: Operation HOPE-Vista evolved out of a need identified by the City of Vista in 2003. The City reached out to members of the faith community to come discuss providing shelter for homeless families with children. Operation HOPE-Vista was commissioned by the Vista City Council to provide emergency winter shelter to families living in Vista and the surrounding area, and now we serve all of North and South San Diego.

On August 1st, 2016 we made the transition to transition to year-round services, allowing us to nearly triple the amount of clients we are able to serve.
