Kids Around the World, Inc.

Hello! We are a group of students from Barrington High School and Station Middle School who are fundraising for a mobile food packaging program. 60010 Feeds Kids has a team of ~50 students who coordinate, raise the funds, and organize the food packing event. Our 2022 co-presidents are Himat Sidhu and Olivia Gigilio. The balance of our 2022 leadership team will be determined in the coming months.

In 2017 the Station NJHS class raised money and packaged almost 12,000 meals for hungry children. In 2018, we continued the program and worked with the new NJHS class. Together we raised money and packaged over 21,000 meals! In 2019, we added a high school board to grow the program and mentor Station Middle School's new NJHS class. We raised money for over 39,000 meals. In 2020, 60010 Feeds Kids became an NHS sponsored event at Barrington High School. Due to Covid-19, we held the first Midwest home food packing event and packaged over 72,000 meals. In 2021, we continued to grow and packed over 140,000 meals!

As always, we are working with Kids Around The World's One Meal program. This is a food packing program that brings together a team of people to help meet the nutritional needs of starving children. We’re doing a thing.

That’s right, I, together with a non-profit organization called Kids Around The World have committed to building two playgrounds that will benefit over 200 children currently living in under serviced areas of Peru. 

Kids Around the World is a non profit organization dedicated to creating safe spaces for children to play and wonder. Through charitable funds, Kids Around the World removes, refurbishes, transports, and installs playgrounds from all over the US to over 86 different countries. 

Through various means, I have committed to purchasing two playgrounds that two different teams and I will be assembling and installing in late February and then again in late 2020 or early 2021 at two sites in Peru. The first playground will be installed near an existing feeding center run by a faith based ministry just outside of Lima. The second, fabricated to service children with disabilities, will be installed at the site of a future special needs school located at the foothills of the Andes mountains. 

In early October of 2019 I took an exploratory trip to Peru to meet with not only the various non-profit organizations and local dignitaries I’ll be working with but also to meet with the children that have and will benefit from the work being done. In the meetings with the non-profits, I quickly realized that the playgrounds were just the starting point, because when you look into the lives of these children, you begin to understand what is really needed. When there is no-one there to watch over them, these children are victimized and discarded. They’re malnourished, under educated, and abused. Hearing their stories and feeling their pain changed me. 

I want to use the opportunities these playgrounds will provide so I can educate myself further as to how we can help facilitate self empowerment and sustained progress. 

Here's what we'll need to make our first playground happen;

$12k paid to Kids Around The World to purchase and transport materials and coordinate logistics.

A build team made up of 8-10 volunteers willing and able to assume responsibility for all personal expenses.
