We’re Hands and Feet of Asheville, a Western North Carolina nonprofit pairing young adults (20-29) with working experiences at local non-profit partners on the frontlines of disaster relief and social justice. Hurricane Helene devastated our program, leaving our 6 Young Adult Fellows without a home and our organization facing significant financial hardship. Our Program Director, normally a part-time employee, has worked full-time to support our young adult Fellows.
Your donation will go directly to stabilizing the future of our organization, ensuring that Western North Carolina continues to receive an influx of caring young adults providing service to heal and restore our region.
Your donations support the Hands and Feet Fellows:
- Amaya Tipps, Watershed Outreach Coordinator with Asheville GreenWorks
- Megan Stacy, Job Coach with The Arc of North Carolina’s Project SEARCH
- JyMia Fann, Case Manager with Homeward Bound’s AHOPE Day Center
- Christian Johnson, Construction Craft Laborer with Habitat for Humanity
- Ellie Stewart, Storyteller and Communications Coordinator with Haywood Street Congregation
- Zoe Rumley, Support Staff with Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry and the Black Mountain Counseling Center
About Hands and Feet of Asheville
Hands and Feet of Asheville is a Western North Carolina nonprofit offering a year of transformation for young adults rooted in interfaith ministry, social justice, and service. Since its creation, Hands and Feet has hosted more than 40 Fellows for an unparalleled year of personal, spiritual, and professional growth.
HFA was founded in 2012 by Sarah Robinson Bryan, a Presbyterian Church (USA) Young Adult Volunteer alumna, who had a vision for young adults to learn and grow through service right here in Asheville.
With founding support and technical assistance from Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Asheville, Hands and Feet of Asheville began welcoming young adult Fellows in Fall of 2012. From 2015 to 2023, Hands and Feet hosted seven program years as an official Presbyterian Church (USA) Young Adult Volunteer program site.
In 2024, Hands and Feet is going back to its roots operating as a standalone site. We are also excited to begin new collaborations as a member site and fiscal sponsor of the Young Adult Transformation Collective (YATC) an organization created to support and connect programs like ours providing transformational service, social justice, and ministry programs for young adults.
Hands and Feet of Asheville’s Values are respect, openness, curiosity, collaboration, anti-racism, transparency, inclusivity, and equity. Our community partners walk alongside some of Asheville's most vulnerable citizens. Whether the focus is hunger, housing, disability, environmental justice, or discrimination, we are honored to empower their missions and be a part of the change.
