Friends of Mongolia

Help Mongolian citizens who became stranded in the USA due to COVID-19, and are now becoming desperate in the DC/NOVA/MD area.
Since January 2020 Mongolia shut its borders, for travelrs and citizens alike, and still now in September with winter approaching, thousands of Mongolians (students, travelers, and others) are stranded, unable to return home. There are limited charter flights allowing Mongolians to return home, through lottery system, and a lack of information and overall confusion has left many in desperate situations. ( https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/aug/03/the-people-that-covid-19-has-cut-off-from-home  ) With the support and advisory of the Mongolian community, Friends of Mongolia (FOM) has identified priority needs for Mongolians currently (as of September 2020) stranded in the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) area and is fundraising to support these needs as best we can. 

Urgent needs are:
-Accommodation: there are those who are left homeless at this time and require short-term support until space on one of the charter flights become available
-Groceries: families and individuals are left without resources and means for daily groceries and meals
-Medical help: especially some elderly individuals have not been able to replenish their regular treatments and medications since the lockdown and are now in dire need
-Immigration lawyer fees: those who were traveling were on short-term visas and have now inadvertently overstayed, many hope for clarity to understand what this means 

Approach: we plan to focus on families that are in extreme need, following consultation with the Mongolian community
Method: based on the need that the family/individual have, proper precautions will be taken to provide the best need and reach
Cost: our initial goal is $4,000, we are confident that with this amount we will be able to provide the short-term needs that are required to hopefully, get the families and individuals home safely
Transparency and reporting: all spending will be tracked and progress monitored, updates will be shared on this page and our social media accounts – with permission of the families and individuals 

Friends of Mongolia is organized and operated exclusively for charitable, educational, and developmental purposes.  FOM was founded and continues to be a volunteer-operated organization since 1999. Your donation will be used in full for intended recipients and we plan to report on progress and show full transparency of our spending.

Монголын Андууд Сан нь зөвхөн боловсрол, хөгжлийг дэмжих зорилготой буяны үйл ажиллагаагаа явуулхаар байгуулагдсан. Монголын Андууд байгууллага нь 1999 онooc өнөөг хүртэл сайн дурын үйл ажиллагаа эрхлэж байна. Таны өгсөн хандивыг зориулалтын дагуу хэрэгцээтэй хүнд нь хүргэж мөнгөний зарцуулалтыг ил тод мэдээлэх болно.
2020 он дэлхий даяар хүнд хэцүү жил болж байна. Хэдийгээр Монгол Улс цөөн хүн амтай боловч, Улаанбаатар хотод хөл хөдөлгөөн ихтэй, эрүүл мэндийн үйлчилгээ хязгаарлагдмал учраас хэрэв цар тахал буюу КОВИД-19 гарвал улсын хэмжээнд газар авахаас урьдчилан сэргийлэx үүдэнээс 2020 оны хавар Монгол Улс гадаадын оронуудтай хилээ тусгаарлан хаасан билээ. Үүний улмаас олон Монгол иргэд (оюутанууд, аялагсад, мөн гадаадад эмнэлгийн үйлчилгээ авахаар ирсэн) гэртээ харьж чадахгүй гацаад байна.Хэдийгээр Монгол Улс иргэдээ цөөн тооны тусгай үүргийн нислэгүүдээр татан авч байгаа боловч, түүний ард сугалааны систем, мэдээллийн хомсдол, нийтлэг төөрөгдөл гээд олон Mонголчуудыг цөхрөлийн байдалд оруулаад байна.

Үүний улмаас Монголын Андууд байгууллага нь дараах нэн тэргүүний хэрэгцээ шаардлагыг тодорхойлон эдгээр хэрэгцээг өөрсдийн хүрээ, хүчин чадлын хэрээр дэмжихийн тулд хандив цуглуулахаар төлөвлөж байна.

Зарим яаралтай хэрэгцээ:
- Цагаачлалын чиглэлээр мэргэшсэн хуульчийн төлбөр: Гацсан иргэд тусгай үүргийн нислэг хүлээж буй хугацаандаа визний хугацаа дуусах, АНУ-д хар жагсаалтад орохоос болгоомжилж, хууль эрх зүйн зөвлөгөө авах шаардлагатай байгаа ба үүнд зарим төлбөр шаарддаг.
 - Эмнэлгийн тусламж - Гацсан иргэд ихэнх нь эрүүл мэндийн даатгалгүй ба яаралтай эмнэлгийн тусламжийн төлбөрийг төлөх боломжгүй. Үүний улмаас бид тэдэнд үнэ төлбөргүй очиж үзэх эмнэлэг болон эмнэлгийн газарууд хайж байна. Ялангуяа өндөр настай хүмүүс даралтны эм болон бусад зайлшгүй хэрэгтэй эмээ авч чадахгүй байгаа.
- Хоол хүнсний бүтээгдэхүүн: Монголын Андууд байгууллагаас эмзэг бүлгийн өрхүүдийг дэмжих зорилгоор Giant болон Safeway зэрэг хүнсний дэлгүүрүүдийн бэлгийн карт (ил тод байдлын үүднээс) өгөхөөр төлөвлөж байна.
- Байр орон сууц: Бид бүх гацсан Монголчуудад тусалж чадахгүй ч гэсэн очих газаргүй, гудамжинд хоноглох шахсан Монголчуудын талаарх мэдээлэлийг хүлээн авсан юм. Үүний улмаас бид богино хугацааны байр хайж олоход дэмжлэг үзүүлэх бодолтой байна.
Зорилго: Бид нэн хэрэгцээтэй гэр бүлүүд өөрөөр хэлбэл туйлын хүнд нөхцөлд амьдардаг өрхүүд дээр анхаарлаа төвлөрүүлэхээр ажиллаж байна.
Хэрэгжүүлэх арга: Бид бусад ТББ-уудтай хамтран ажиллаж, Монголчуудын нийгэмлэгүүдтэй холбоо тогтоож, хүнд байдалд байгаа хүмүүсийг олж өөрсдийн чадах хэмжээнд тусалж дэмжин ажиллаx болно.

Зардал: Бидний анхны зорилго бол 4000 доллар. Энэ нь хүн бүрийн хэрэгцээг шийдэж чадахгүй ч тодорхой хэрэгцээ, нөхцөл байдалд ихээхэн тус болно. Тайлан болон ил тод байдал: Ажлын явц болон мөнгөний зарцуулалтын хяналтыг энэ хуудас болон цахим орчин, нийгмийн сүлжээний дансуудаар мэдээлэх болно (хэрэв зөвшөөрөл аваагүй тохиолдолд тухайн хүлээн авагчийн хувийн мэдээллийг мэдээлэхгүй).
