Over the past year, the amount of brokenness, corruption, political unrest, and protests in Haiti have been ever-increasing. In the last two months, the protests have made it impossible for most Haitians to work and provide food for their families. Finding food has become a rarity. But God Ministries, the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that I have been volunteering with in their Galette Chambon, Haiti location for the past six years, has recently gained the resources to enable them to provide enough food to the nearby families to last them about a week.

With the length of this period of unrest unknown, BGM lacks the security of knowing if they can keep providing food to the families that many of us consider to be a part of our families. The families of six+ kids that haven't had food for weeks. The families that haven't been able to get to work to earn just a few dollars. The families that haven't been able to attend school for months. The families that are the sweetest, strongest people I know. That have the kindest hearts.

Haiti is a beautiful, beautiful place filled with beautiful people. Many Haitians wish there was peace. Most of them do not engage in the protests. Haiti is not the place you see in the news today. That is the political corruption. Haiti contains the most joyful and selfless people. They inspire me every day and have since the first time I went there. Haiti is and will always be my favorite place in the world. I know many people who have visited would agree.

I am making a goal of raising $3000. This is roughly enough to feed a good portion of our families for 1-2 weeks. Please help me in raising this money. Have you ever heard of Plumpy Nut? It's a peanut-based paste packed with calories and nutrients. It's whole purpose is to treat severe malnutrition by supporting weight gain. But when we get right down to the matter, Plumpy Nut is responsible for turning this baby on the left, into this baby on the right. How beautiful would this world be if it was full of those "right" babies! Right!?

But God Ministries supports 3 Hope Centers. Two of those Hope Centers can be found in Haiti along with one malnurishment clinic (Pen Lavi). It takes ten boxes of Plumpy Nut to supply that one malnourishment clinic and those two Haitian Hope Centers for just one month. 

Here's the break down:
1 pack - 500 peanut-butter-flavored calories/nutrients
1 box - $70 
1 box - 160 packs
$8,400 goal- 120 boxes // 19,200 full bellies

And you know what we're going to do about it? We are going to stock those two Hope Center clinics and Pen Lavi with enough Plumpy Nut for an entire year. That's just $8,400 to save the lives of starving children, to allow the opportunity for the Holy Spirit to work in the lives of those families, and to free up monies the clinic could be using on the multitudes of other life-saving works they are doing daily. 

So here is your action item: Pray on what you have just read. Ask the Lord how much He is wanting you to bless these babies. And give.
