9 million Reasons

9 Million Reasons runs the largest community food pantry in New York City — we hand out 50,000 pounds of groceries per day. In February, we were feeding 2,000 families per month, but when the pandemic hit, food insecurity in NYC doubled within a matter of days. By mid-April, 9MR staffers and volunteers were working around the clock to meet the extraordinary demand. We now feed more than 30,000 families per month and the need is still extreme due to mass unemployment and the lack of a vaccine. With vulnerable communities facing very uncertain futures, we need your help.  


Our goal: 

We are looking to raise $250,000 to supplement food we get from donations and grants with essentials we can't afford. A hundred percent of your donation goes directly to helping families stretch whatever pay they have farther. 

Rice, beans, and fruit: $3,000/week
Diapers and hygiene: $1,000/week
Delivery expenses for seniors: $1,200/week
Port-o-potty: $1,800/year
PPE for volunteers: $500/week
