Chaos Cancer Treatment

$4,350 of $10,000 goal

Midwest Greyhound Adoption, Inc. is located in Sugar Grove, IL. We are a 501-c-3, non-profit greyhound rescue shelter that takes in retired racing greyhounds from the racetrack. We've been in operation for over 25 years. We pride ourselves on never turning away a greyhound in need.  Chaos is a 2-year old male who has been diagnosed with olfactory neuroblastoma. In order to save his life, he will require combined chemotherapy and radiation. We need to raise a total of $10,000 to begin immediate treatment.

Chaos is really just a puppy, playful and full of energy, with a very sweet disposition. We would like to do everything we can to save his life, but we have limited resources to do so. Every penny raised thru this GoFundMe Campaign will go to pay for his cancer treatment. We cannot express how grateful we would be if we were able to attain this goal of $10,000 to save the live of this sweet young boy.

Information about our non-profit status can be found on Charity Navigator ( https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.profile&ein=363884066) or www/Guidestar.org

Week Two after radiation treatment. Chaos is doing quite well. It's always a delicate balance to put weight on a dog without causing too much intestinal upset. After 10 days of treatment, Chaos lost a little weight and we are slowly plump him back up again. OK, PLUMP and GREYHOUND should probably never be in the same sentence <G>. The radiation burns/ulcers did not show up until this week so we will do doing some skin treatments but other than having an itchy face, Chaos is barely missing a beat. We will be planning another trip up to UW-Madison soon for his 2 week follow up. All in all, he is doing well and is still so social and happy to be around. He is STILL A PUPPY at heart. Thanks all!

Chaos' journey to UW Madison is going well and not so strangely enough he is making new friends very quickly. He is staying part time in the office with the techs and doctors instead of in the cages like a normal patient. Dr. Christensen has been WONDERFUL and we get updates at least once a day on how the treatments are going. Our experience at UW Madison has been very good. There are many people to thank besides our contributors to the Chaos Cancer fund but more on that later. Sorry for the sideways photos : )

Well Chaos has discovered the couch,.......... and my shoe rack, and my inside paneling, and the firewood pile. The only thing he hasn't tried to eat is the couch! There's still time I suppose.
Chaos takes a nap

I am very excited to let you all know that we are formulating a treatment plan for Chaos with the wonderful doctors of the oncology department of University of Wisconsin-Madison. We still need to raise more funds for his upcoming care. Sadly, any treatment of this kind is not a cure but we may be able to buy Chaos a few YEARS in the best case scenario.

I have loved greyhounds most of my life and finally 30 years ago adopted my first little girl. She was 3months old when a 4H project went wrong and her mother was not spay after her first litter, she of course became pregnant a second time as soon as she went into heat. After delivering 12 unwanted puppies these owners took her to a local vet to be spay, but she bled to death on the table. The pups were left to fend for themselves and at three months they were brought tp the local kennel. All of Shylo's litter mates were ?healthy?, but Shy only weighed 10 lbs and was full of worms and giardia. She lived to be within 6months of 16 years and my best friend. Now I am a member of the local tobacco commission and fight for animals right in homes were people smoke without thought of the precious animals. PLEASE remind people that animals especially ones with long noses ,can get nasal cancers.
