CHAKALI MOVEMENT, GHANA

Hi! I am Shirley Mensah.  As most of my friends know, I am an international student from Ghana studying abroad here in the USA. I got involved in missions during my time here in the US, through participation in a campus ministry called Chi Alpha at EIU. I developed a love for missions ever since my first experience with mission trips. I saw the importance of it and the number of lives that are touched worldwide just by deciding to help out in your own little way. Recently, an international mission agency called ONEWAY AFRICA ministries visited my home country, Ghana to reach out to a town called Yendi in the northern region. Among this mission group were a group of my high school friends who were volunteering in this outreach program in Ghana. At the end of the program, these friends who are currently in the University of Ghana decided to take the initiative of setting up another outreach program they named the Chakali Movement. Chakali is the name of a town in the east of Wa, Upper West Region of Ghana. This group plans to embark on a trip to Chakali, with this mission statement:

“We feel called to embark on a mission trip to Chakali, a town in the east of Wa, Upper West Region from September 9-September 15, 2017 to fulfill His mission for us there. Statistics has shown that with a population size of 8,800, less than 5% of the Chakalis are Christians. It is with this that we thought of the ‘Chakali Movement; a move to draw this town to God Almighty. We plan to distribute bibles, lead bible studies, provide health education, and evangelism. The children in this community lack decent school uniforms and sandals; restraining most of them from going to school and this has become a dire need. As part of the Chakali Movement, we also seek to provide 1,000 school uniforms and 600 (and more) sandals to school children who lack uniforms, wear torn and tattered clothes, and also walk barefooted to school. We pray that through the works of the Holy Spirit, lives will be transformed and that lost souls will be brought into a relationship with Christ Jesus.

As we pray for God’s blessing on this upcoming trip, I humbly invite you to become a part of our mission’s team”.

After hearing about this, I decided to volunteer in this mission program by participating in this fundraiser to aid the group in accomplishing their goals in Chakali.

I am humbly inviting you all to donate to this mission program; knowing that any amount of money you give touches the lives of children and people out there in Chakali, and makes their world a little better.

Thank you.
