Chairs 4 Kids with Disabilities
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Racquel Knight, Founder of One Chair 4 One Child, and I am raising funds to make chairs and desks for the Landilo School of Special Education in rural Westmoreland, Jamaica.
I grew up in rural Jamaica and I had to struggle to find adequate seating while I was attending Primary and High school. One Chair 4 One Child came into existence because of the experiences I had as a child dealing with this problem.
One Chair 4 One Child (OC4OC) aims to deliver thousands of chairs and desks to Jamaican schools that need furniture. OC4OC uses local high school woodworking shops, students, teachers and other local partners to construct the chairs, building skills and providing jobs for youths. We have provided over 160 chairs and desks to 5 schools since our launch in 2017.
The funds we raise help us to fund the machine shop. Students learn a new skill, and receive a stipend when they work on our chairs and desks. Other students get involved in our initiative as an opportunity to gain volunteer opportunities.
The Llandilo School of Special Education provides educational opportunities for children and young adults’ ages three to twenty-one years old, with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disorders.
Help One Chair 4 One Child achieve its goal of $3500 to create a more comfortable environment for these kids. By doing this you are making our vision become a reality by ensuring each child will be able to:
1) Learn and Excel in class
2) Pursue their passion
3) Find new opportunities for a brighter future.
Thanks in Advance!
