Cervical Cancer Screening: Uganda

Donation protected

Cervical cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for women in 40 sub-Saharan African countries including Uganda. Due to lack of adequate resources for women to access quality pap smears, burden of cervical cancer has increased steadily due to biological and social factors.

Cervical cancer is preventable by vaccinating young girls (10-15) who have not had any kind of sexual intercourse and early diagnosis to ensure precancerous cells are detected early and lives can be saved. Together, let's support women and girls to beat cervical cancer!

HPV vaccinations for young girls (May 4-5, 2018). Beating cervical cancer!

Women are the backbone of their families, communities, and societies. Childbirth Survival International (CSI)  free cervical cancer screening program is saving lives. Please make a generous donation.

CSI Uganda: Skilled healthcare provider treats a patient who tested positive for cervical cancer precancerous lesions (February 25, 2018). Of the 120 women screened, a total of 7 women who tested positive were treated at no cost. #CSIImpactingLives

Childbirth Survival International (CSI), a trusted 501(c)(3) global grassroots nonprofit is reaching the unreached with health services and information. Since 2013, CSI has saved lives and impacted communities with basic quality low-cost low-tech grassroots interventions.

In Uganda, among CSI's various community-based interventions is free cervical cancer screening and onsite treatment for those women with precancerous lesions. Women with advanced test results are provided with transport and referred to Mulago National Hospital.

NTV Uganda News on February 25, 2018  covered CSI's 3rd  annual free cervical and breast cancer screening in Wakiso District, which benefited 120 women. In collaboration with public health centers, since 2016 to present, an estimated 400 women (young and old) in Uganda have benefited from CSI's health services and education sessions on #cervicalcancer.

Real Lives. Real Impact. Real Experiences.

Make a generous donation to support CSI's efforts and save lives.
