This is a campaign for fundraising money that allows us to pay for flight tickets to México City to meet our roots, dance in the religious celebration and share our traditions with our grandpas.
We are an infantile dance composed by 18 girls and boys borned in New York City. We are the children of Mexican indigenous migrants from Santiago Teopantlan, Puebla. Our parents immigrated to the United States looking for a better and dignified life for our families on both sides of the border. Under this objective, they organized themselves and constituted a group that promotes communitarian initiatives.
The dance is part of the cultural initiatives that we promote as indigenous migrant families. Through the learning process of "Las Moras" dance, we work toward our fathers', mothers', grandfathers' and grandmothers' traditions to remain alive between us, the new generation of the teopaneros borned in New York City.
We have been preparing ourselves for months to travel to Mexico to visit for the very first time the town of our mothers and fathers. We would like to present “Las Moras” dance during the religious celebration of Santiago Apóstol that will take place on July 25th, 2018 in Teopantlan.
We also want to meet our grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles, and cousins that live there. We only know their voices and faces but we wish to walk together the streets of Teopantlan and celebrate life and our traditions together. We wish to bond strongly to be able to handle the distance once we are in NY.

Esta campaña de procuración de fondos busca recaudar los fondos necesarios para pagar los boletos de avión que nos lleven desde Nueva York hasta la Ciudad de México para así conocer nuestras raíces, bailar en las fiestas patronales y compartir nuestras tradiciones con nuestros abuelos y abuelas.
Somos una danza infantil compuesta por 18 niñas y niños nacidos en la ciudad de Nueva York. Somos hijos de migrantes indígenas mexicanos originarios de en Santiago Teopantlan, Puebla, México. Ellos migraron a los Estados Unidos buscando una vida digna para nuestras familias en ambos lados de la frontera. Con ese objetivo se organizaron y conformaron un comité de familias migrantes que impulsa iniciativas comunitarias.
La Danza que conformamos es parte de las iniciativas culturales que como familias promovemos. A través del aprendizaje de la danza de “Las Moras” trabajamos para que las costumbres de nuestros padres, madres, abuelos y abuelas permanezcan vivas en nosotros la nueva generación de teopaneros nacidos en Nueva York.
Desde hace algunos meses nos hemos preparado para viajar a México a conocer el pueblo de nuestros padres y madres. Queremos presentar la danza de “Las Moras” durante los festejos del patrono Santiago Apóstol el 25 de julio de 2018 en la plaza central de Teopantlan.
También queremos conocer a nuestras abuelas y abuelos, tíos y tías, primos y primas que están allá. Sólo conocemos su voces y sus rostros, pero deseamos recorrer las calles del pueblo juntos, bailar juntos y así, celebrar la vida y nuestras tradiciones juntos. Deseamos estrechar nuestros lazos con ellos y ellas para mantenernos cerca a pesar de la distancia.
